November 18, 2020 Dear KHS Families, We have some important updates regarding your child’s education. According to Nunavut’s Chief Public Health Officer, our school is now in Stage 4. There are active cases of COVID-19 in Nunavut. Beginning Wednesday, November 18th, all schools are closed and all instruction will be conducted remotely. ... All students have been provided with learning packages for at least 2 weeks of home learning. Packages have been sent home from the school with students. If your child(ren) has not been at school to receive a package, it can be picked up at the Co-op. Teachers may be contacting you and your child a few times a week by phone to support your child’s learning at home. Please feel free to give teachers your email address if you would prefer to be contacted by email. Below you will also find the email address of teachers at KHS. Please find your child(ren) teacher and contact them directly should the need arise or if you have any questions about your child(ren) work. We understand that this may be a challenging time for your family and our community. We would like to assure you that our school staff is committed to providing your child with the best possible learning experiences and support. Please emphasize with your child/children that this is not two weeks off school. Students are expected to complete all assigned work. Completed work can be placed in the drop-off box located at the Co-op (see photo below). There are resources available to help you and your family through times of need. Please feel free to contact myself or VP, Jonah should you have any questions. The CPHO will re-evaluate school closures on December 2nd, 2020. We will provide updates as they are available. Please follow the guidelines Quana, for your support and understanding during these difficult and uncertain times. Please stay safe, follow the directions of the CPHO, and listen and watch for updates. Sincerely, Rohan Hollingsworth Principal Kugluktuk High School.
