Dear Kumo Students and Friends, There have been many changes over the past year due to Covid and the pandemic. Even though it has been a challenge for us, we are so grateful for the support we've received from all of you! ... For those who are unaware, Soke Darrell and Alison, as well as myself (David) Sandra and Lucian, will be moving to Nova Scotia. We (Sandra and I) have been fortunate enough to buy our first home there while pursuing my studies and some career opportunities. Thank you to the students and parents who have been so dedicated and supportive over the years, and especially this past year. We will miss seeing and training with you. We are happy to announce that Renshi Scott Taylor will be your new full time instructor. We have worked closely with Renshi Scott for almost 20 years. Renshi Scott shares the same love and enthusiasm for Kumo Jiu Jitsu as we do. He has trained hard, is committed, and is a very good teacher. We know and trust that you will be in good hands working with him. We are so excited for this opportunity for him and the plan he has! Hello Kumo Friends and Followers! We hope you had a Merry Christmas and are enjoying this holiday season with your families, despite the present conditions. We wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year to come! We will not be resuming classes as planned on January 4th, 2021. Due to the second lockdown restrictions, the dojo will be closed for the four-week period outline by the provincial government. We hope to open and resume classes at the end of this period.... Yes, you read that correctly! We are officially reopening the dojo on Monday, August 17, 2020 We are excited to move forward with all of you! It has been a long time coming! We have made a few modifications to our class schedule, and have included a brand new program in addition to our Jiu Jitsu class! ... Classes will run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, with kids classes from 5:30 PM to 6:15 PM. Adult class will start at 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. We will have our traditional Jiu Jitsu classes on Tuesday and Wednesday. Classes will have an emphasis on Self defense, Throws, Takedowns and more. There will be no prolonged grappling or Open Mats at this time. On Monday and Thursday we will offer a Jiu Jitsu integrated fitness and conditioning class. This class will be a no contact class. It will emphasize strengthening and conditioning the body, blended with Jiu Jitsu style workouts. This class will benefit those who also attend our traditional Jiu Jitsu classes, as well as individuals who wish to get back into Jiu Jitsu but would prefer a class that has no physical contact between people at this time. Students may attend either, or both of these classes we are offering. We have made a few other modifications at the dojo, with peoples safety in mind. We are very happy to hear that Ontario will be entering Phase 3 of opening businesses, which includes gyms and training centers, this Friday, July 17, 2020! As of right now, only businesses outside the GTA are permitted to open, but with this announcement, we are hoping that our dojo and other businesses within the GTA are not far behind! **KUMO JIU JITSU COVID 19 UPDATE** Dear Parents and Students, We hope you are healthy and safe during this time. ... Unfortunately, due to the present conditions surrounding COVID-19 and the government's mandate to close all non-essential businesses, we will not be able to resume classes as scheduled on March 30th, 2020. Therefore, we have put all membership payments on pause for now until the situation improves and we reopen the dojo. As we monitor how the situation progresses we will have a better idea of when we can re-open the dojo and start classes once again. When classes start again, we will still offer our membership extension, with classes on Fridays and Saturdays to make up for classes missed. This is a temporary measure so that everyone stays safe. In light of recent news regarding the COVID-19, there will be no classes for two weeks beginning today, Monday, March 16, 2020, and classes will resume March 30, 2020. We appreciate your continued support and enthusiasm for Jiu Jitsu, and we are happy to offer a membership extension special. We will have additional Kids and Adult Classes on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings for three weeks on the following dates: April 3 & 4, 2020 April 10 & 11, 2020 April 17 & 18, 2020 Students are welcome to attend these classes in addition to their typical class schedule. CLASSES CANCELLED for tonight due to the bad weather .... We’ve been watching this weather all day, waiting to see if it would clear up - but the roads are pretty bad out there - so we have decided to cancel class.. We will see you all tomorrow night!... We will have grading tomorrow night as scheduled , but for anyone who was planning to be there for tonight’s grading , we will continue it next week, so no one will miss out. Everyone stay safe out there!!
