Nova Kune Heritage Pork

It's a beautiful day and our Haunene litter is growing fast!

Our pastured pork program has come a long way since we first started five years ago. This morning we are enjoying some Kunekune bacon from 6 month old gilt we harvested on property. We needed to fill our personal freezer and we decided to harvest two pigs, one which was 13 months old and one ( 6 months old) from some new lines we have recently brought in, to compare size and growth. We are very pleased!

Wow! We have been enjoying some awesome weather! One of our barn cats, Sammy, enjoying a spring like day with a group of 3 month old piglets.

Last week, Poptart, our Tapeka x Tuahuru sow, farrowed a beautiful litter of 8! They are now 6 days old. Six are double wattled. Three boars and five gilts. This litter was sired by Blackball our Mahia love x Haunene Boar.

Hikuai our ILF Haunene sow has now moved into the farrowing barn. She is expecting a litter sired by our boar Milton, and we are expecting a great outcome with this litter. She is a wonderful mother, and farrowed her first litter on our farm, independently, and raised all her piglets to weaning with no issues. This litter, we will release select boars and gilts, the first of the Haunene line to be released in the maritimes!
