The Oriental Shorthair was recognized in the 1960s in Great Britain, then ten years later in the US. Though they were only recently recognized, they have been around for a long while, along with Siamese, Burmese and Korat. They are originally from Thailand and are Siamese in every way except for the point pattern. * Their bodies are long and svelte, their heads wedged and tapering, eyes almond shaped (mostly green, occasionally blue or an odd-eyed colour), long, slim legs w...ith dainty paws and long, thin and tapering tails. Their coats are short and fine textured coming in many colours (solid, shaded, smoke, tabby and parti-colour classes). * Health concerns include eye problems such as conjunctivitis, cataracts, entropion, and problems with their retinas (the light-sensitive tissue that lines the inner surface of the eye), including progressive retinal atrophy. Also feline asthma, liver disease, kidney disease and cystitis can be problems for the Oriental Shorthair. See more
Did you know Kuri K9 Massage offers more than just Swedish massage for your pet? * Lymphatic Drainage massage is another type of massage service I offer your fur babies, on a case by case basis. * Lymphatic drainage massage is focused on the moving and draining of the lymph from the extremities into the nodes for processing and eliminating toxins and waste materials. Dogs recovering from an illness or surgery, who have experienced chemical overloading of their systems (from ...prescription drugs or a fatty diet or processed foods), those suffering from disease processes or have compromised circulation systems will all benefit from this type of massage, which is usually done in a series of three sessions over 7-9 days. * Check out kurik9massage.com for more information on all the services offered! The Ibizan Hound originates in Ibiza (the Balaeric Islands) and its original function was to hunt wabbitsI mean, rabbits. * The Ibizan shares the same ancient roots as the Pharaoh Hound, and they bear a strong resemblance to the dogs depicted in Egyptian tombs (and to the jackal god, Anubis). They are gentle, mild-mannered, even-tempered and loyal. They need a run or jog daily, but a long walk will also do. * The main health concern here is with allergies, so be sure to have their eyes tested.

Unfortunately, COVID has really reared its ugly head and I'm still unable to offer Canine/Feline massage therapy in your home. I'm really hoping I'll be able to get out again in May...stay tuned...I will keep you informed! * In the meantime, perhaps you'd like to schedule some Distance Reiki for your pet? It's perfect for these social distanced times. * Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy. It is a natural, safe, hands-on healing therapy allowing animals (an...d people) to absorb more life-force energy. Reiki involves no manipulation, is non-addictive and non-invasive. It creates and promotes self-healing, balances energies, and revitalizes. Reiki channels energy to your pet in a powerful and gentle way, enhancing relaxation and providing a sense of peace and contentment. Reiki can be effective on its own or as a complement to other modes of healing. * Distance Reiki works on the basis that we are all connected - we all contain energy and are part of a larger whole, therefore the distance between beings is meaningless. * Visit https://www.kurik9massage.com/reiki.html for more information or contact me to jump on a call! Check out this review of "Dog Band" from the Wishing Shelf Book Reviews! ‘A sweetly illustrated book looking at lots of different sorts of music and musical terms.’ (4 stars) This is a very sweet little book for 6 to 8 year olds. Colorfully illustrated and packed full of delightful animal characters, this is a fun way of introducing young children to all the different sorts of music. The story follows a group of dogs who want to start up a dog band. The problem is, they don'...t know which sort of music to play. So they decide lots of animal pals what they think. They ask Taco the cat, Leroy the iguana and a host of other animals, who not surprisingly - think differently. to ask Bambino all - This book is a fun way of introducing musical words to children. Words such as ‘lyrics’, ‘twang’, ‘jazz’ and ‘orchestra’. The children will get to see clarinets, trumpets and a cool-looking frog with sunglasses and a harmonica! It’s important to note that there are a few topics within this book that most children will find difficult to understand. For example, poodle skirts and cars with fins. But, with a little help from adults - and possibly Google - it could be fun to investigate the topics further. All in all, I think most children with an interest in music will find this book fun ... In terms of being an introduction to musical instruments, musical terms and musical turns of phrase, this could be a classroom gem. And, of course, the children will have fun trying to guess which style of music the dog band end up playing. Enjoy! -- A ‘Wishing Shelf’ Book Review www.thewsa.co.uk https://www.reganwhmacaulay.com//check-out-this-review-of-

Do you and your vet think your dog's health could benefit from the application of a cold wrap to cool, invigorate and stimulate; or from the application of a hot wrap to warm and relax tissues, act to detoxify by opening the pores of the skin, and draw up the blood? Or perhaps even cold and hot applications to stimulate the cardiovascular system? * You might find this simple method of administering hydrotherapy wraps to your dog helpful in these cases. * Hydrotherapy is the ...scientific application of water in the treatment of disease. * Once you’ve talked to your vet about Hydrotherapy wraps and what’s right for your dog, visit https://www.kurik9massage.com/hydrotherapy-wraps-for-dogs.h to see how to DIY! The Black and Tan Coonhound originates in the US, originally bred to hunt raccoons (as the name suggests). They are black and tan (again, as the name suggests) with a smooth and short coat. * These guys probably originated from crosses of Bloodhounds and Foxhounds. They are mellow, amiable and calm indoors. Outdoors, their hunting instincts take over! They can run for miles, but are also content with a moderate jog or long walk daily. * Health concerns include hip dysplasia and ectropion.
The Japanese Bobtail is an ancient breed indigenous to Japan. They were brought to the US at the end of World War II by returning American soldiers. * They are medium in overall size, large, upright and expressive ears that are wide set, large, oval eyes in colours that harmonize with their coat. The tail is curved and "bobbed" (as per the name), the coat can be medium (shorthairs) in length or longhair, often with a front ruff. They tend to come in tricolours (black, red and white), bicolour, solid, dilutes (tabby and particoloured). * There are no particular health problems associated with Japanese Bobtails, besides the usual "Feline-wide" issues like kidney disease and potential dental problems.

Check out my first (of three) Overseas (Pet) Adoption interviews - this week, I chat with Sara Graham of VANIMAL RESCUE SOCIETY!
Dumpling is available for adoption from the Annex Cat Rescue! * Sweet Miss Dumpling is a confident, playful, and vocal black-and-white tuxedo. She is estimated to be about 2-3 years old. She is very curious, easy-going, friendly, and likes to always see what's happening. She likes to know that her people are nearby and so would do best with a family that is mostly home. * She can be a bit nippy when anxious by herself or excited to see her foster parents (in the morning), but... usually gentle and predictable. Since settling into her foster home she has become a lot more independent and has made strides in attachment/separation anxiety so it may just be reassuring her she's in a secure and stable home forever now. * Dumpling's tastes are simple-her favourite things include going in cardboard boxes, paper bags and chasing shoelaces/rope, making her toys very eco-friendly! She loves to spend her afternoons napping in weird positions nearby, looking out the window, or asking for belly rubs. She has great litter box manners, as well! * https://www.kurik9massage.com//dumpling-is-available-for-a See more

Pseudo is available for Pre-Adoption from the Annex Cat Rescue! * An elderly, portly, slightly bow-legged black cat is looking for a retirement forever home. Pseudo spent many years living outside in a managed feral colony near the waterfront. Then the developers came along and his caretakers found an indoor home for him with Annex Cat Rescue. He's adapted very well to indoor life with warm soft beds and having meals that won't be stolen by raccoons. His litter box habits ar...e good and he's used to humans because of many years getting to know his colony feeders. * As a former feral cat Pseudo will always be a little nervous and not fond of being picked up. With patience he will get to know his adopter and get comfortable in his new surroundings. Pseudo likes other cats and is used to living with them but he can be a little pushy around feeding time. If you want to be his friend, catnip is one of his favourite things. * If someone can take the time to give him a chance, I'm sure this old gentleman will reveal a charming quirky personality. Who knows, he may even be up for some play sessions! * https://www.kurik9massage.com//pseudo-is-available-for-pre See more
