Ku Yu Kai Canada excels in 2nd Pacific Karate e-Championship - 5 competitors/8 divisions/8 medals/Top Female Athlete! Five members competed in eight divisions and medalled in all of them! 3 Gold, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze.... COVID-19 Protocols to reduce risks Measures to maintain social distancing: Students shall arrive 15 minutes prior to class and will line up with 6ft between them to enter the dojo. ... Students shall arrive wearing their karate uniforms, so as to avoid using the changing rooms. Each student shall have a minimum 6ft square practice area marked off with tape, with an additional 2ft space between squares to allow passage without stepping into each others squares. Procedures: Pre-Class Students shall: Wash their hands prior to coming to class; Wear a clean karate-gi to class; Bring martial arts practice shoes to class (shoes will be worn in the dojo); Bring a personal yoga mat (for push ups and sit-ups) Entering the dojo Before entering the dojo, students will: complete the BC Governments risk questionnaire (https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en) remove coats and outer wear and place it in a carry bag line up outside the dojo, six feet apart Use hand sanitizer Students in line will wait until the person before them has moved to their station before entering the dojo. Upon entering the dojo, students shall: put on martial arts practice shoes go to their designated squares using the passages between squares place all personal belongs, including carry bags, yoga mats and water bottles, within the students square, and in no other location. Students who do not have the correct personal equipment or who do not pass the risk questionnaire will not be allowed to enter. The maximum number of students will not exceed the number of designated practice squares in the dojo, and in any case will not exceed 24. During class In this phase, all practice will be individual exercises (no partner work) within the students designated squares. All activities will be designed so that students are facing in the same direction and moving in the same direction, so as to maintain social distancing. Students will not be barefoot but will wear martial arts practice shoes. Floor exercises such as sit ups, push ups, and stretching will be done on personal yoga mats brought by the students. After class Students will leave one at a time, starting with the student closest to the door. Students will change into their street shoes as they leave. Students will take all their personal belongings with them when they leave.

Congratulations to Timothy Jiloca and Tiffany Jiloca for their excellent performances in the Katana Cup 2020. In very competitive divisions, Timothy placed 3rd, and Tiffany just missed the cut for the quarter finals. Their hard work and practice is paying off.
Timothy Jiloca has won his quarter final match in the Katana Cup 2020 e-Tournament, (Boys 4-8 years, lower belts). Semi-finals are next. Good luck, Timothy! Ganbate!!
