Covid 19 Update: We remain OPEN to serve our patients and will be enhancing our screening protocols to keep our patients and staff safe and healthy. We will be adding a new screening question: ... "Has Public Health spoken to you through contact tracing and asked you to self-monitor for 14 days?" If so, we will be assessing the nature of the appointment, and if it is non-urgent, we may ask you to defer treatment until after the 14 day window. If it is urgent, and you have no symptoms, our dentists will determine the best course of action on a case by case basis (perhaps seeing the patient at the end of the day in full PPE) or if symptoms are present, a virtual visit may be considered, or a phone consultation. Otherwise, our dentists will continue to do routine procedures (fillings, extractions, check-ups etc) and deliver all emergency/urgent care treatments for our symptom free patients as we have been doing all along, with enhanced PPE and thorough patient screening. Also, our hygienists will still be doing hygiene/preventative care visits. If you are unsure, whether you have knowingly or unknowingly been part of a public exposure in our area, please consult the GNB website for current lists of locations and dates, and do your part to reduce potential spread by considering postponing nonessential dental visits within your 14 day window. https://www2.gnb.ca/cont//en/corporate/promo/covid-19.html Thank you for your understanding. We at KV Dental are working hard to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. #staysafe #nbstrong #flattenthecurve

Our hygienists have been back to work a couple of weeks now. You may also be compelled to look in the mirror at your pearly whites after they are done your cleaning!

Here is Dr. Carmichael in some of the enhanced PPE we will be wearing for certain procedures. We are happy to be back and are still smiling, even under our N95 respirators! ;)

We are excited to inform our patients that we are now seeing patients. To start, we will be focusing on addressing the backlog of patients that has resulted from our closure due to Covid-19. All staff and dentists will have their temperatures taken twice daily and be screened for Covid-19 symptoms. Staff will also be social distancing at the clinic, apart from when it is not possible, when providing treatment. During these times, they will be wearing PPE. You will see us wea...ring some enhanced personal protective equipment (PPE) since your last visit. Depending on the procedure, it may include: gowns, goggles, faceshields, and N95 respirators. We have added a plexiglass barrier at the reception desk, and two new windows to some treatment rooms for increased ventillation and fresh air. We have three new doors as well, and two of the doors were to enclose two previously open treatment rooms. A HEPA filter has been added to our HVAC air conditioning unit, and HEPA air purifiers in each treatment room. Less patients will be booked each day to allow for social distancing, and rooms will be used in a rotating fashion so that they can be left vacant after being used. Here are the changes you can expect at your next visit: 1- Patients are asked to come to their appointments ALONE. Any non-essential escorts will not be permitted entry to the clinic. (Some exceptions apply: minors, caregivers, translators, special needs). 2- Our waiting room is CLOSED. All non essential items have been removed (magazines, pamphlets etc.) Patients must remain in their cars and call upon arrival. You will be asked some Covid-19 screening questions before being asked to come to our door. 3- You are encouraged to arrive with your community mask on, or you will be provided with a mask. 4- Your temperature with be taken with a non-contact infrared thermometer. If normal, you will be invited inside and required to sanitize your hands, and again before exiting. 5- You will be brought directly into your treatment room and will receive a mouth rinse. 6- You will receive treatment with a rubber dam whenever possible, if applicable. 7- You will need to wear your mask when the treatment is finished, and sanitize before leaving. **Any patients receiving treatment will be asked to contact the office if they develop any Covid-19 symptoms, or are diagnosed with Covid-19 within 14 days after having their appointment with us. We are also cleaning high touch services multiple times daily and doing enhanced cleaning and disinfection at the end of the day. Any parcels arriving will be handled with gloves and wiped down, along with the countertops it touched. Patients over the age of 65, and/or with certain medical conditions will be encouraged to book their appointments for the earliest time in the mornings. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call. Thank you for your patience, Dr. Power, Dr. Carmichael and KV Dental staff

UPDATE: Stay tuned for news in the near future about the re-opening of our clinic. Now, we are waiting for the requirements and protocols that we will need to implement from the New Brunswick Dental Society. After this, we will be working quickly to be able to re-open under our "new normal", and also to obtain some further PPE that is not yet available. Everyone's safety will be our top priority. Thank you for your patience. We look forward to seeing you all!

IMPORTANT CLINIC UPDATE: As recommended by New Brunswick's Chief Medical Officer, and the New Brunswick Dental Society, we are no longer seeing patients for routine and elective procedures because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. This will be at least until March 31st, but it may be longer. As this is a fluid and rapidly changing situation, we do not yet know when we will be able to resume our routine clinical procedures. If you have an appointment scheduled in the next two weeks, i...t is cancelled. You will be contacted by our office to reschedule once we reopen. If you feel you have a true dental emergency, please inform us. Call the office and leave a message on our voicemail at 847-9836. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and cooperation. We hope these measures will help to minimize spread of the virus, keep everyone safe, and keep our hospitals from being overwhelmed. In the meantime, please practice social distancing.

We are screening patients (see last post or see the picture below) and have posted a new sign on our front door because of Covid19. We always practice "universal precautions" which means that we assume that all patients have an infectious disease. This means we always sterilize instruments and disinfect surfaces in our treatment rooms per our provincial regulatory body and the Canadian Dental Association. In addition to this, we are taking some extra precautions in our recept...ion, waiting room and bathroom areas, including: -patients must wash or sanitize their hands upon entering -sanitizing regularly high touch surfaces (door knobs, light switches, payment machine etc) -removed magazines and toys temporarily -whenever possible, patients should not bring others to their appointments, or have others wait in the car We will be closely monitoring this rapidly changing situation as updates become available. Please call with any questions or concerns.
