Today we remember all of those who have served and continue to serve this great country of ours during times of war, conflict and peace. Our duty is to take up their torch, hold it high and not break faith. #weremember #lestweforget

KWAR’s Volunteer Award is presented annually to a REALTOR who has shown both commitment and dedication to the association and within the community. Melodie Walsh was presented with the award last Friday at KWAR's virtual Annual General Meeting. Melodie exemplifies the kind of camaraderie that is so vital to being both a good REALTOR and a good person, says KWAR President Colleen Koehler. Whether it is through her volunteerism in the community or at the association, Melodie brings her special blend of friendliness, compassion and humour to everything she does. The new building is proposed to rent 32 one-bedroom units. It would be built in the interior of the complex that already rents 78 units offering two, three or four bedrooms. This is a real sweet addition for their community, having an infill development, Mayor Dave Jaworsky said. The more we can enable them, the better.

If anything, what COVID has done is really heighten the importance and value of home, Colleen Gayford Koehler said. People want to stay in their homes for longer so they’re building home office spaces or gyms, or creating space for extended family to move in. With more people able to work remotely, Waterloo Region is seeing an influx of buyers coming from the Greater Toronto Area and from other provinces like Alberta, Koehler said. If people only have to drive in to work once or twice a week, they’re choosing to live somewhere a little further from the office at a much more affordable price, she said.
