Both Jeff and myself are currently dealing with unexpected issues outside of work. Please be patient with our scheduling in these next few days/weeks. Thank you -Clarke
K-Wrench was proud to be involved in a great season of racing that allowed Jeff Gillies to finish in 3rd place! Whether it is for work or play, this trade never allows you to stop learning and with 1 year under our belt, the next season is going to be even better and brighter than this past one. Great job Jeff!
Minnows are in!
While there is still snow forecast over this next week, it's time to start thinking about changing over your winter tires back to your all season set. Winter tires still outperform all season's to about 5-10 degrees above zero, so you don't need to rush. If you're all season tires were worn out last year, come by and let us know. We'll price out some great tires for this coming summer and with current promotions on for some of the major players like Cooper, Hankook, General, Bridgestone and BFGoodrich, it's a great time to buy.
Back to winter! If anyone is needing a boost to get their vehicle going this morning, give us a call and we'll help you out. Message us here on facebook or give the shop a call 204-523-4808
K-Wrench is now licensed to sell live minnows. 2 dozen for $9.05 includes taxes and gives you a 3 day permit to keep them. Come by and grab some to help you catch the big one!
K-Wrench is pleased to announce that we have joined MPI's Winter Tire Program. This allows drivers to finance winter tires and rims through MPI with a flexible low interest loan that then becomes enrolled with their ongoing MPI account. More information can be found on MPI's site or come by the shop if you have questions. http://www.mpi.mb.ca//Pa/winter-tire-program-overview.aspx
Have you ever been told that you need your ball joints replaced? Did you wonder what that actually meant? A ball joint connects the steering knuckle to the upper or lower control arm. In this video, it connects the steering knuckle to the lower control arm. It is a ball and socket-type joint, just like your shoulder, that allows the tire to rotate while you steer but still maintains a solid connection between the two so your tire stays in proper alignment. Ball joints maintain your vehicles alignment and when loose, can cause tire wear, abnormal noises, and if not repaired when loose, can cause extreme damage to the rest of the vehicle if joint comes apart.
Some more thoughts about winter tires - many modern vehicles are now equipped with all-wheel drive, and as always, most trucks are 4-wheel drive. This is great for traction and going forward and many can get by with all-season tires in terms of propelling the vehicle forwards. This is only one aspect the role tires play in maintaining your vehicles contact to the road. The design of the tire plays a considerable role in braking and steering. All-wheel and 4-wheel drive do not...hing to help brake or steer a vehicle, especially if your tires loose traction. You might argue that your vehicle is equipped with ABS, and while that again helps, ABS is only active when your tires are slipping, which if you are slipping, suggests that you're not effectively braking anyways. So while AWD and 4X4 is great to get you going, they help very little to slow you down or steer your vehicle the way a quality winter tire can. See more
Do you wear the same jacket in spring and fall as you do in winter? Of course not! Then why would you run the same tires on your vehicle in summer and winter? Just like the changing of seasons require us to wear different clothing to stay comfortable, adverse driving conditions require specific tire tread design and rubber composition. All-season tires try to do a little bit of everything, but don't excel particularly well in anything. Tire performance and traction does not g...et noticed until there is no performance and traction. All-season tires seem perfectly fine until you're sliding through an intersection after the first snow fall, or in summer when potholes show up on our glorious highways and get filled with water and your car hydroplanes across it. Winter tires perform better in winter and summer tires perform better in summer. We sell both at great prices. See more
Here's a video of a vehicle that came in with a really wobbly tire. It looks worse at low speed and all that was needed was to clean the rim and hub area. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm1zkKuV6UQ
Nothing can change the appearance of a truck easier than a nice set of tires like these 33*12.50*18 Nitto Mud Grapplers. Give us a call and we'll price out a great set that will meet your needs. Lots of manufacturers to choose from and competitively priced.
