If man had kept the law of God, as given to Adam after his fall, preserved by Noah, and observed by Abraham, there would have been no necessity for the ordinance of circumcision. And if the descendants of Abraham had kept the covenant of which circumcision was a sign, they would never have been seduced into idolatry, nor would it have been necessary for them to suffer a life of bondage in Egypt; they would have kept God's law in mind, and there would have been no necessity f...or it to be proclaimed from Sinai or engraved upon tables of stone. And had the people practiced the principles of the TEN COMMANDMENTS, there would have been no need of the additional directions given to Moses. While the Saviour's death brought to an end the law of types and shadow, it did not in the least detract from the obligation of the MORAL LAW. On the contrary, the very fact that it was necessary for CHRIST to die in order to atone for the transgression of that law, proves it to be immutable. Like the Psalmist we all must declare "I delight to do Thy will oh my GOD: yea thy law is within my heart. The first quarter of 2021 has passed into eternity, as it gives way to another quarter filled with sacred truths for our learning. The theme for this quarter's lesson is titled "The Promise: God's Everlasting Covenant". To set the pace for a very interesting time of study, we embarked on a week where our study took us through lesson #1 entitled "What Happened". God created us in His own image so that a loving fellowship could exist between Him and us. Although the entrance o...f sin shattered the original union, God seeks to restore this relationship through the plan of redemption. Life for us as dependent creatures takes on true meaning and clarity only when we enter into union with our Creator. This Sabbath, we're blessed to have the President of the Ontario Conference, Dr. Mansfield Edwards as our facilitator for the Sabbath School panel discussion. He will be joined by a team of Master Guides - MG Schildla Johnson, MG Linley Williams and MG Sheryl Street, Superintendent for the morning. God promises a new creation, beginning with the words For I am about to create new heavens and a new earth, for the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind Isaiah 65:17. In the City, there will be no more weeping. My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places. Violence shall no more be heard in thy land.the Great controversy is ended. Sin and Sinners are no more. The entire universe is clean. One pulse... of harmony and gladness beats through the vast creation. From Him who created all, flow life and light and gladness, throughout the realms of illimitable space. From the minutest atom to the greatest world, all things animate and inanimate, in their unshadowed beauty and perfect joy, declare that God is love. Peter, the Apostle, who spent three and a half years, day by day in the presence of Jesus gives us a message. We can all do something for Him who watches over us. Let the wicked forsake his ways, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55.7 What assurance here, of God’s willingness to receive the repenting sinner! Have you, friend, chosen your own way? Have you wandered far from God? Have you sought to feast upon the fruits of transgression, only to find them turn to ashes upon your lips? And now, your substance s...pent, our life plans thwarted, and your hopes dead, do you sit alone and desolate? Do not listen to the enemy’s suggestion to stay away from Christ until you have made yourself better; until you are good enough to come to God. If you wait until then, you will never come. When Satan points to your filthy garments, repeat the promised of Jesus Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast away John 6:37. Tell the enemy that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin. Christ Object Lesson, pp 205, 206. Let us thank God that we have a refuge in trial. Let us remember that Christ is a present help in every time of need. The promise of God’s word are rich and full and free. God is with us, and He cares for us. Of all the great mysteries of the universe, no doubt the greatest one of all is the plan of salvation, a mystery we can only barely begin to understand. (See Eph. 6:19.) That the Creator of the universe would stoop to clothe Himself in humanity, live a life of toil and suffering, only then to die in our behalf, a sacrifice for sin, all in order that He could pardon us and show mercy to us is a truth that will thrill the hearts of God’s created beings for all the ages of etern...ity.The theme of redemption is one that angels desire to look into; it will be the science and the song of the redeemed throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. Is it not worthy of careful thought and study now? . . .The subject is inexhaustible. The study of the incarnation of Christ, His atoning sacrifice, and mediatorial work will employ the mind of the diligent student as long as time shall last; and looking to heaven with its unnumbered years, he will exclaim, ‘Great is the mystery of godliness.’Ellen G. White, My Life Today, p. 360. Look at the bad things you have done: the people whom you have hurt, the unkind words you have spoken, the ways in which you have disappointed others, not to mention yourself. And yet, through Jesus, you can be forgiven all these things and stand, right now, perfect and righteous in the sight of God. If that isn’t a mystery, what is?
