Every kind of weather today. High winds, rain and sleet. Glorious sunshine punctuated by fascinating clouds. Thankfully the last tree of the day took three cuts with my feet on the ground.

Tools of the trade. Social distancing and spring pruning go well together.

Big willow slab. Trying something different with large slabs from the #lucasmill. Wall mount or ceiling hung this light fixture is a conversation starter. At the widest point this slab is 4 feet and measures 10 feet long. The Lucas mill can handle logs up to 60 inches in diameter.

June has been a big month for tree work. Here are some action shots from one big day. Putting a good team together can be difficult some times, but working with Kywo Industries, Damien Manseau and Anton Artuso was a pleasure. Thanks team!

This Grand Fir (Abies grandis) was leaning hard towards the shed. I managed to put it right between the gate at the far end of the yard. Boom. Still got it.

I spent a couple days in Grand Forks, climbing for Kywo Industries. Some big trees growing in that valley. I look forward to coming back soon.

Rob and I had a great time pruning this big old Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum). Mercilessly topped some time in the past this old girl had bad sun scald and rot on the top of her large branches. But this tree is a fighter and has vigorous epicormic growth that needed some thinning and shaping. Not to mention dead wood and cleaning up stubs left by a well meaning gardener. The tree looked great the next morning blanketed with what looks to be the last good snowfall of the season. Spring is coming!
