To every woman out there.
Tonight we held another officiating review. The responsibility of being an official can not be taken lightly, you must always continue to hone your skills. The safety of our competitors and making fair unbiased decisions is paramount. OSU!
It saddens me that this will be the first time that we are not able to tie our students’ new belts on them. But we couldn’t be more proud of everyone who challenged grading this time around. Remember the true reward of a Karate grading is not the belt, but the self introspection, learning and growth that occurs through the process. Congratulations to all 57 of you. So proud. OSU!!!

Calgary Kyokushin Karate Classes Cancelled In light of the recent developments in the COVID-19 situation, and Alberta's decision to close schools and daycares, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all Calgary Kyokushin Karate classes until further notice. We feel that it is our social and moral imperative to protect the health of not only our students, but our community. We know that many of you have been training very hard to prepare for the Calgary Cup, other up...coming tournaments and grading, and we encourage you to continue your training at home even though these events have largely been cancelled or postponed. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update the membership as things evolve, We hope that this interruption will be short lived, and that the outbreak will be under control soon. This is an unprecedented situation that we as the human race are challenged with. Please be safe, and enjoy the valuable and precious time that many of us have been given to spend with our families. If there was ever a time for the spirit of OSU ("Perseverance under pressure"), it is now....
It's with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Calgary Cup Karate Championships, originally scheduled for March 21 2020. In the past several days we have been discussing the possibility of such a cancellation in light of the unfolding concern over COVID-19. With the directive from the provincial government this afternoon banning gatherings of more than 250 people, we have had no choice but to move forward with the cancellation. We will look at hosting the event later in the year. Please inform your students and let them know that we will be refunding entrance fees in the next several days. Thank you for your support and understanding, and please continue to monitor the situation and follow the guidance provided by our public health leaders.
Happy woman’s day!
First aid for our Instructors today! Great job everyone!
The first time I trained in Hawaii was 32 years ago, it was amazing! Tonight the feeling was the same. I met up with some old friends and made some new ones and it brought back some beautiful memories of the many times I have been here. Thank you to Shihan Ishida and the students of the first Branch of IKO outside of Japan for your hospitality and friendship! OSU!

This fighters group has been working hard the past few weeks. Last night, they gave our officials a chance to sharpen up their skills. Like all Karate training, You must practice officiating often to be good!
