Hello teacher friends! This is an amazing opportunity! Check it out...
Created from two or three different photos, the stuffed deer, the waterfall and the subject photographed in the studio. This photo appears to be from the late 1800's and was not an uncommon type of photo using whimsical and fanciful themes.
L'atelier Malicot (1898) est le plus ancien atelier photographique de France qui soit encore fonctionnel, avec son mobilier d'origine et son matériel d'époque.
We kept very busy on our second day of Victorian Christmas celebrations so unfortunately didn’t get out and about to photograph all the festivities but were able to capture some quiet early morning and late night calm that descends on our snowy little town. If you haven’t yet been out to capture the spirit and experience an old fashioned Christmas, you have one more day! See you tomorrow!
We've extended the sales deadline, and there's a few more seats left for the charter buses out of Quesnel and Prince George coming to Victorian Christmas on Saturday and Sunday. Looking forward to hosting you!
We hope to see you in Barkerville for Victorian Christmas! Our doors open at 10am as it’s looking awfully festive in our cozy studio! Call to make your booking or stop in and set up a reservation when you arrive! Spaces go quickly!

In order to gain exposure for Barkerville Historic Town and Louis A. Blanc Photographic Gallery as well as to receive professional reviews for my work in order to grow and improve that body of work, I have entered the Lensculture awards for 2020. Wish me luck!

A quote from one of our guests, while choosing his hat this summer in our change room. "I keep telling my girlfriend that Im wearing a top hat for our wedding and she keeps telling me no! Guess were not getting married!"
A wonderful display of the construction of all the layers!
Happy Halloween! Thank you to all who came and enjoyed our Ghostly Halloween at L.A. Blanc in Barkerville! We had some spooktacular guests! Join us for our next big event at Victorian Christmas.
An outstanding collection of photos of photographers from WW1. The early days of photography.
Thats a wrap folks! Last day of the main season and we soaked up the sun drenched warmth and rejoiced for the beginning of a gorgeous fall...
We just had a visit from a very lovely couple who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were quiet and kind and patient. After their portrait, they stayed to enjoy the cool studio while we printed their photograph and said they were nearing the end of their day and were grateful for a rest. When they told us they were celebrating 50 years of marriage, I congratulated them and asked how many children they had. They said 6 daughters and 25 grandchildren! I ...asked if they had email and offered, as our gift, to them to send a digital copy of their portrait so ALL of their family got a chance to enjoy their milestone and memento. They both were so touched they cried and there were hugs all around. The gentleman dropped his glasses as he was shaking from the emotion of the moment, so we cleaned them and sent them on their way. They said it was extra an extra special occasion as they were on their honeymoon that they never got to take. Its stories like this, people like this, that make all the hard days worth it.
Yesterday, our second to last photograph of the day marked our 1000th photograph of the season! Hurrah! We have reached our milestone we set earlier this summer. This sweet family received extra prints and framing as a gift.

We had an uproarious visit from our local Island Mountain Arts crew this past week and if you are planning to attend our communitys upcoming festival, ArtsWells Festival 2019, watch for these invaluable faces and give them a warm huzzah!
"The 25 Stages from Courtship to Marriage," Public Domain Review, COLLECTIONS "A charming set of twenty-five hand-tinted stereographs showing the various stages... from courting to marriage focused mainly on a rumbled midnight tryst on the third date and the wedding itself which takes place in a rather luxuriant tropical setting. There is no date given on the cards, but they are most likely from the late 19th century. Unfortunately the eleventh card is missing from the uploaded set perhaps a wedding night come early and the resulting card too saucy for public consumption? Perhaps. Though the couple most likely waited and the missing card is simply sat somewhere in the Harper Stereograph Collection of the Boston Public Library we shall enquire but for now, at least, the twenty-four stages from courtship to marriage." https://publicdomainreview.org//the-25-stages-from-courts/
Quiet mornings in Barkerville.
This super fun group of ladies on a road trip from the Westcoast of British Columbia came to visit us today and we dressed them in some proper attire!
Happy Indigenous Peoples Day.
...and the hail, hail, hail, came down, down, down and Miss Wilson started smiling!
We are back! We have spent the past two weeks photographing many street folk and visitors from all over the Cariboo and abroad. In fact, just yesterday we were just in the process of photographing a lovely group of young entrepreneurs from Kitimat, BC, and the unsuspecting Billy Barker strode through our photographs, deep in thought, as he seems to do quite often in Barkerville. Perhaps contemplating his mining choices? Nevertheless, there is always plenty of action on the streets of Barkerville. Come join us and you can ask Mr. Barker yourself!

"We are not amused". fiveminutehistory.com/QueenVictoria Despite the fact that in almost all of the photographs and paintings of her, Victoria provides a partic...ularly po-faced demeanour, she had the reputation of being in private a very fun loving and amusing companion. Courtier Caroline Holland attributed the phrase "we are not amused" to Queen Victoria in her 1919 book "Notebooks of a Spinster Lady", but her evidence is essentially hearsay.
A short demonstration of early photography techniques.

Wow! Thank you to all who donated this past weekend. Our community is grateful! Thanks to Barkerville Historic Town & Park for the initiative.
Oh what a wonderful weekend! We captured a few moments before the streets filled with guests. We enjoyed bustling streets, busy shops and incredible weather. We even got a fresh snowfall to add to the winter spirit. Thank you to all who visited the studio and spent time with Father Christmas! We live in a wonderful place.
