Japanese maples are one of my favourite trees for small spaces. And there are more hardy varieties then you would think! With adequate summer moisture these beauties add grace to the garden.

I found this beautiful Magnolia showing off just before we set out for Ontario. And whilst Spring is in full swing in beautiful Victoria, Cornwall has just begun! Looking forward to getting back into the gardens. First, I unpack!!

We most often identify plants by their flowers or foliage, but in the midst of winter what can we do to keep our horticultural selves busy? Go for walks and identify plants by their buds and bark, of course!!

A few snaps of what I was up to in the early years of gardening. Tree climbing was fun, but I leave that to the pros. Formal gardening I can do but much prefer informal gardens. Informal does not mean messy, yet a more natural, organized and relaxed garden. It’s a rainy day on the coast, this November day! Let the rains begin!
