Barcodes are used worldwide as one of the most efficient means of tracking packages and containers. Living organisms can also be barcoded genetically, making tracking cells with barcodes possible. You can follow them as they divide and differentiate, identifying their fate in the body or tracing back their parental lineage. Automation reduces errors and helps avoid labor-intensive work in the lab, saving time and money. However laboratory leaders should know their customers, their workflow, and their goals before beginning to implement automation in the lab as there can be many challenges. This interview with Dr. Hawker sheds light into the best way to approach the #automation process in labs.
Forensic labeling is extremely important to approach with proper practices as the stakes are extremely high. Ensuring all evidence is securely and accurately labeled is vital in maintaining the forensic chain of custody. All collected evidence should be tagged at the time of collection. Each label should contain the same information, typically: description of the item, case number, date and time, location, collector’s name, and serial number if applicable.
We have an extensive catalog of deep freeze and cryogenic labels that each fulfill a different purpose so we've put together a table that outlines our label classes, and their main differentiating attributes which you should consider when assessing your needs. These classes are available in many sizes, colors, and configurations, which are identifiable by SKU# https://hubs.ly/H0Lby2w0
Labeling PCR tubes is a difficult task. For basic PCR protocols that use 0.2 ml tubes, there is limited room on which to handwrite legibly, either on the top or side of the tube. Tube strips further limit the writable area, with each tube connected to the next one in the strip. The new patent pending PCR-TagTrax lets you label PCR tubes with more information than either handwriting or label dots can provide. Its flexible design allows you to tag individual PCR tubes or strips containing up to 8 tubes at a time.
Biobanks have become an essential tool in the fight to improve healthcare outcomes via basic and clinical research. Both diseased-oriented and population-based biobanks help speed up health research in their endeavor to find treatments for disease because they can collect molecular and clinical data from each patient and storing them securely.
Cryogenic Tapes for Sealing, Securing, and Identifying Cryo-Laminate tape protect labels on tubes, vials, and containers from water and many common chemicals and reagents NitroTAPE for freezer boxes and other items to both secure and identify, and can be written on with permanent marker MetaliTAPE ideal for use on metal surfaces such as freezer racks, canisters, and other metal surfaces intended for cryogenic conditions
We're always glad to see how our customers use our products. Thanks Emily for choosing LabTAG to help you out in the lab!
Yesterday we shared a post on how biobanks can plan for disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Disasters are unfortunate but also unavoidable so what can we learn from our current pandemic? Due to strong demand for samples and data, many new biobanks were established to focus solely on COVID-19 while existing biobanks switched some of their focus onto collecting samples and data for COVID-19 research.,
Disasters like the COVID-19 pandemic can result in biobank samples, data, inventory, and/or equipment being damaged or lost. In order to protect your biobank before disaster strikes, there are several actions you can take to help mitigate the effects of both man-made and natural disasters.
From the beginning of histology with initial investigations into how tissues and organs work inside the body to now discovering novel therapeutic targets for disease histology is one of the most varied fields of research with many practical applications.
PCR-TagTrax- Non-Adhesive Thermal-Transfer Tags For PCR (Patent Pending) Adhesive-free tags easily slip onto tubes, strips, and plates Quick, bird’s-eye view of all printed or written information Withstands a wide range of temperatures (-196C to +150C) PCR-TagTrax is a thermal-transfer printable tag that can be printed with barcodes.
Most laboratory research takes place in only a handful of model organisms but now scientists are beginning to use new model organisms with the hopes that they can shed new light on old problems. https://blog.labtag.com/will-new-model-organisms-lead-to-s/
Artificial intelligence is one of the fastest growing new technologies with many potential uses for histology and pathology. AI is now being applied, to identify features in these images to help make diagnoses, to improve content-based image retrieval, and to find new clinically relevant associations within large pools of samples.

With the news of possible vaccine options for COVID-19 out, implementing automation into the drug discovery process is even more advantageous than before. Hundreds of thousands of COVID-19 samples need to be tracked, tested, and recorded on the daily, and these samples will only increase over time. Automation within the healthcare sector will help ease the overwhelming demand of workflow, from COVID-19 testing kit manufacturers to laboratory sample processing and to vaccine development and distribution. #covid19 #vaccine #automation
Vaccines are one of modern science's greatest assets. RNA based vaccines work differently than normal vaccines and are relatively quick and inexpensive. However, RNA is very unstable and needs to be held at temperatures below -80C in order to remain effective. RNA vaccines work by introducing an mRNA sequence which is coded for a disease specific antigen. Once produced within the body, the antigen is recognised by the immune system, preparing it to fight the real thing. Pfizer x BioNTech SE https://hubs.ly/H0zFJ9z0 #pfizer #biontech #rna #vaccines
