Finally sitting down to begin reading Lauren Artress’s book The Path of the Holy Fool. At the beginning of the first chapter she shares a quote that I first heard her say at Chartres Cathedral in 2018. The small man builds cages for everyone he knows. Well the sage, who has to duck his head when the moon is low, keeps dropping keys all night long for the beautiful rowdy prisoners. Dropping Keys by Hafiz I can so clearly see the images of these words. Right now our backyard labyrinth is covered in snow. I am so grateful to the wonderful Veriditas community who offer finger/hand labyrinth experiences on Fridays. All are welcome. You just have to register for each walk. You will be able to connect with people from around the world. I hope to see you on the path.
Sigh. We were so fortunate last night to have perfect weather to bask in the moon light of a full blue moon. The sky was clear. It was cold but manageable. In a case of synchronicity we were joined by our friend Francis. We had had to postpone her first walk in the summer due to weather. John and I took a different route for our afternoon exercise walk and ran into each other. I shared the following quote that Lauren Artress had shared with us on our last night at Chartres. ... The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you Don't go back to sleep! You must ask for what you really want. Don't go back to sleep! People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch, The door is round and open Don't go back to sleep! Rumi I said a prayer of thanksgiving for the medical team who helped me recently. I said a prayer for all of our friends in the USA. I remembered that yes this is a time when the veil is thin. Rest in peace Marion and all the other souls. And asked for help with my struggle with all of the uncertainty. The message I got was take your light out into the world. I hope you find moments of light in the coming days. Sometimes we hold the light. And sometimes we are the ones in need of it. Blessings on your path. See more
Tonight is All Hallows Eve. Lauren Artress reminded us last night, that this is a time when the veil is thin. Plus, we have a full moon. John and I are going to walk the labyrinth. We recently lost a family member. Marion will be close to our heart. Lauren also spoke of what do we want to turn away from? And what do we want to turn towards? Food for thought. I am sending out healing to all who have lost loved ones and are making changes in their lives. Blessings on your journeys. P.S. I am also holding our brothers and sisters in the USA in my prayers. May wisdom and peace prevail.
Wow. 4 years. John and I love what this patch of dirt became. I am grateful to feel that this labyrinth is connected to all of the other labyrinths around the world. Recently we have been honoured to have some people come and walk our labyrinth. I believe they discovered some insights and found some peace. Let me know if you would like to come and walk.
I think fall is my favourite time of year. I am transfixed by all the wonderful colours in our neighborhood- even our backyard. A friend and colleague of mine Linda Mikel is doing a labyrinth walk in New York State at a hospital for the health care professionals there. I have recently had the need of local healthcare myself. So today I walked in gratitude for all those who provide healing. I didn’t sweep the labyrinth. I rather liked the experience. I loved the sound of crun...ching leaves. I appreciated that the path was somewhat hidden. It helped me focus. Full disclosure my mind wandered. My mind was racing. I may have an opportunity shortly to help mark the graduation of a woman. I wondered how can I help? I berated myself for not listening more on my initial call with the organizer. I was so excited to connect with someone about labyrinths. I should have asked more questions. As I walked images popped into my head. Light and weaving. Even if I don’t get to provide some tools I sent a prayer to people who will mark transitions in their lives. So because I didn’t feel I had done justice to the healers of the world. I went back into the centre and walked from there. Blessings on your path. P.S. A word that came to me on my walk was unity. During our October 10 Veriditas celebration while Judith Tripp led us I envisioned a massive Chartres style labyrinth encompassing the earth. I imagined all of us from around the world on different parts of the path and together. See more
I am grateful to this caring organization. I am looking forward to raising a glass to Lauren Artress. I have had the pleasure of spending time with her. Her sense of humour is fabulous. So dry. She is so inspiring. Consider joining us for every part of the day. Blessings on your path.
