Well it seems Mother Nature is not playing nice with our permanent dock! Some ice shifting has resulted in some major spring repairs. The plan ( might change as spring progresses) is to replace the whole post and beam superstructure with a crib and stringer system. I cut a bunch of tamarack from our property in Dryden and started the milling process today. Tamarack decking and stringers will last a very long time!!

A great late season moose hunt with a great bunch of guys.

Waaaay back in November 2003 a whitetail buck of trophy status was shot by a US hunter after dark and on private property just north of Dryden, Ontario. For those unfamiliar with the details around the unlawful harvest of this magnificent whitetail deer, I wont go into great detail as there are many links to the capture and prosecution of the hunters involved...and justice was served!... https://lacseulwildernessresort.com//the-dryden-buck-redi/

Our Canadian deer hunters have had a great fall hunt. Venison in the freezer and a few nice racks along the way.

You can feel it in the crisp morning air, the excitement and energy of the pre moose hunt anticipation. Two groups of hunters have made the 26 hour trek from Leamington and are busy loading all their gear for a week of moose hunting down Lac Seul. Laughter, cursing the outboard motors that won’t start and a few long yawns add to the adventure only a moose hunter can appreciate. I wish these guys luck and hopefully will have some photos to share after Saturday’s opener.

Some things you just cant make up!! I have to tell you a story about a fellow that has been staying with us for the summer. Lets call him "Dan". A bit of background about Dan first. Dan is an equipment operator working in the bush of northern Ontario. Dan has been staying in a camper on one of our RV sites for the summer and has become a bit of a fixture at the camp. The fall colours on Lac Seul are incredible right now. Pictures do not do justice. One last day out to steamboat narrows for a feed of fall walleye. Docks are coming in, draining water in parts of camp winterizing boats... is bitter sweet after our first season owning a resort. We are forever working on projects and winter is closing in fast. For now it is a brief glimpse of nature’s glory until the cold October winds knock the leaves to the ground.

Another beautiful day on lac Seul ( which means lake alone in French). Although we did see a few other boats it was pretty quiet, almost creepy for a lake that is normally buzzing with activity.

A HUGE thank you to Sysco, the Ear Falls lions club and the Ear Falls legion for stepping up and helping out! Our care package destined for evacuees staying at lac Seul wilderness resort. Everyone is comfortable, catching a few walleye off the dock and watching the fire updates. Let’s pray this forecasted rain helps everyone soon return to their normal Covid lifestyle.
