The Lacombe Regional Tourism board is very excited to welcome Austin Weaver as our new Executive Director! A bit about Austin... Austin Weaver has been in the Tourism industry for over 15 years and brings a vast wealth of expertise to the role. He specifically brings an innovative approach to destination marketing specializing in social media marketing and procurement of grant funding. I’ve always strived to be ambitious in my approach to destination marketing and look for ...unique ways to engage with tourists. After graduating from Thompson Rivers University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management, he got his first shot at destination marketing in the City of Dawson Creek in 2014, where Weaver, held the title of Tourism Development Coordinator for two years, following that he spent two years as Marketing Manager for Travel Penticton. Even though Weaver is new to the area, he grew up in Calgary, and has felt the pull to return home to the prairies with the birth of his son in November 2020. Austin will be visiting local businesses and getting acquainted with our region. Make sure to give him a big Lacombe region WELCOME!

Sassy Sisters Delicious Homemade Baking Almond Puff Pastry Base Layer... 1 cup flour 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup butter Cut butter into flour and salt mix. Mix butter in with a pastry blender until completely mixed. Split dough in half. Place on parchment paper, and roll out. *Pro tip - Use an additional piece of parchment paper between dough and roller to say making a mess of your roller. Top Dough Layer 1 cup water 1/2 butter 1 cup flour 1/2 tsp Almond extract 3 eggs Heat water and butter over medium heat until butter is completely melted, remove from heat for next steps. Quickly add in almond extract and flour and mix until all flour is completely mixed in. Let stand for 5 minutes before adding eggs. Mix in 1 egg at a time. Evenly spread mixture over base layers. Cook in over at 400 degrees for 18-25 , or until golden brown on top. Icing 1 1/2 cups icing cugar 2 tbsp butter 4 tsp water 1/2 tsp almond extract Mix all ingredients together and spread over cooled pastry. Decorate top with anything you like. We use chopped almonds and glazed cherries, but you could use chocolate shavings, sprinkles or whatever you desire.
