This type of rug is my favourite rug to make--random colours of left over rag yarn from my previous projects. I've crocheted this rug in tight, dense stitches so it has a nice weight to it and lies beautifully flat on the floor. The lovely pastel colours are soothing and the subtle touches of vibrant hues add interest. I had just enough rag yarn left to make a matching fabric storage bin, the perfect catch all for little things. Where it all happens.....my work studio is a tiny space tucked neatly under the eaves of our 140 year old house. In the summer most of my rug making happens on our screened porch, but in the winter I'm stuck in my cramped but cozy little space upstairs. Storage space is virtually non-existent and my bins of leftover scrap fabric are overflowing. So I've created a new line of tote bags I call "odd bags". They are zero waste bags made entirely of existing left over pieces of sc...rap fabric and thread. Often the fabric designs don't match and you may find several different colours of thread on one bag. In fact, some of the bags might be downright ugly! But they are roomy and well made and every tiny piece of material left over from their making will be used to create something useful--in this case they will become stuffing for my "odd pillow" inserts. Nothing will go to waste and end up in the land fill. I love that--nothing wasted plus I save money and get back some much needed storage space! Summer is my rug making time. I sit on our screened porch and enjoy watching butterflies flutter around the flower gardens as I crochet. Just finished this sweet round rag rug and it has already found a new home through my Etsy online shop. The fun thing about my round rag rugs is that you get a different look for each side! Take a close look at the pictures. The first picture shows the top side of the rug which is a "woven" look. Flipped over, the back side looks like a braided rug--cool! My rag rugs are always reversible because both sides are beautifully finished. I used the last bit of my rag yarn to crochet this long rug and sweet little storage basket (perfect for hair brushes and curling irons!) during the covid shutdown. The rug is a heavy rug with small, tight stitches for lasting durability. It measures almost 26 inches wide by 62 inches long and is under 1/2 an inch thick, so it will fit under most doorways.
