Own steel toed boots Ability to lift 20 kg and carry it 50 meters Qualifications Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent Post-Secondary certificate or diploma or similar training an asset Exceptional plant and weed identification, noxious weeds, shrubs and trees A minimum of 1-year experience in a landscape or horticulture environment Basic understanding of tree care skills including pruning an asset Key Accountabilities Perform various activities on private, commercial, institution or municipal properties Weeding, planting and ongoing care of horticultural assets Provide input into design, cultural or other health issues Planting of trees and shrubs Operate light vehicles, hand/power tools necessary to perform assignments Follows instruction and contributes to the success of the job Works cooperatively with co-workers and independently when required Participates in site safety briefings and regular safety meetings Assists with administrative record keeping including equipment checklists, hazard assessments and timecards Inspects equipment daily before and after use and ensures it is transported and stored safely. Ensures all tools are returned in good condition at the end of each shift Performs ongoing maintenance including sharpening, sterilization or cleaning tools/equipment Delivery of a high level of workmanship to achieve tree health and customer satisfaction Duties assigned that may arise Outstanding communication and client relation skills Ability to take direction and perform task in safe and efficient manner Attention to detail, quality workmanship and time management Honest, responsible with strong work ethic Passionate about plant health care and a desire to continue education Punctual with personal transportation Repetitive stretching, twisting and bending, sitting, walking and/or standing Repetitive arm, hand, etc. movements Exposure to exterior elements including hot, cold, wet, snow, dusty and noisy Exposure to pollen, fumes, insects and wildlife Wages, Hours of Work and Benefits Variable up to 40 hours per week (weather and daylight permitting) All new hires are subject to a 90-day Probationary Period, summer seasonal 45 days Vacation pay is included on each pay period We have a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy. Canadian Citizenship or permanent resident verification will be required for successful candidate.
