On September 14th, MHBC staff participated in the 2nd annual Caledon Pit Run. The event is organized jointly by Lafarge and Aecon, and held at their pit along W...illoughby Road. The race involves a 5 km run, 1 km family walk, and 1 km kids run. There is also a kids play zone, silent auction, and equipment display. There were approximately 100 runners registered for the race, and many more spectators as well. MHBC had a team of 10 people in the race, and Team MHBC actually won the team challenge with the best overall average time (beating out a team from Golder)! The event was raising money for the Bethel Hospice in Caledon East, which helps provide care and support, free of charge, to people diagnosed with a life-challenging illness in the Caledon community. All registration fees from the event were donated to the Bethel Hospice, and people were asked to bring in non-perishable food items as well. It was a very well-organized event, and a great location to host a race. We are looking forward to next year’s event!
