Prosthodontic dentistry We are delighted to present different options to replace missing teeth by our well trained and experienced providers. Dental implants are a popular and effective way to replace missing teeth and are designed to blend in with your other teeth. They are an excellent long-term option for restoring your smile. In fact, the development and use of implants is one of the biggest advances in dentistry in the past 40 years.... If you are self-conscious because you have missing teeth, wear dentures that are uncomfortable or don't want to have good tooth structure removed to make a bridge, talk to your dentist to see if dental implants are an option for you. Causes of cavities and tooth decay There are several steps required for cavities to form: - tooth location and structure abnormalities - worn fillings or dental devices... - tooth enamel demineralization and loss - poor oral hygiene - eating and drinking: carbohydrate-containing foods stimulate plaque formation and may serve as a medium for growth of caries-promoting bacteria - genetic predisposition - overall health - saliva composition Tooth decay is not associated with spontaneous toothache! A person experiencing caries may not be aware of the disease. Toothache appears under stimulation by irritants. But it disappears immediately after the cause is removed.

6 tips for healthy teeth Rinse between meals: Even if you can’t brush, rinse your mouth with water after eating. Use a straw: Carbonated drinks weaken enamel (the hard, protective outer layer of your tooth). Using a straw helps keep the drink away from your teeth.... Avoid sticky foods: That candy bar might taste delicious, but the gooey goodness sticks to your teeth longer, increasing your risk for tooth decay. Avoid acidic foods: Acids in foods and drinks weaken tooth enamel for up to an hour after you eat them. Chew sugar-free gum: Chewing gum (especially if it contains xylitol) increases saliva, which helps prevent tooth decay. Drink more water: Water promotes saliva production and helps remove food particles. Contact us: (416) 388-6070 [email protected] Information taken from: https://www.brooksidedental.com See more

3D iTero scanner You can visualize your new smiles and say yes to treatment. The 3D iTero Scanner is one of a new breed of technology that is revolutionising dentistry.... These types of advanced intra-oral scanners work by capturing thousands of pictures of the inside of your mouth, and then assembling them into an incredibly accurate 3D model of your mouth, teeth and gums. The scanner uses medical-grade low-radiation lasers to take up to 20 pictures a second of your teeth. The dentist gradually moves and rotates it to be sure to get a complete scan of your whole mouth. Your dentist can then use this 3D model to assess your needs, determine what treatment options are available to you, and which will likely give you the most desirable outcome. Causes of Cavities and Tooth Decay Poor Oral Hygiene: Not brushing your teeth regularly allows plaque to build up and attack the tooth enamel. Plaque Formation: Plaque is caused when bacteria, acid, food particles, and saliva all combine in your mouth.... Dry Mouth: Saliva helps wash plaque from the teeth. If you have a dry mouth with very little saliva, plaque may build up more quickly. Bacteria and Acid: While most people don’t like to think about it, bacteria naturally live in your mouth. When these bacteria digest the carbohydrates that linger on your teeth and in your mouth, acid forms. Medical Problems: can contribute to a tooth cavity by causing acid from your stomach to flow back into your mouth. Information taken from: https://crest.com/ See more
