The mornings are getting frosty and the leaves definitely are a-changin". However, depending on the mood Mother Nature is in, we could have another 6 weeks of riding weather. The key to Fall riding is dressing appropriately for the conditions. Wetness and wind chill are amplified while riding, so take that into account. You'll be happy you chose to wear gloves, and added an extra layer under the rain wear. I've always been happy that I chose to go for a ride on those less than appealing days. Once you get out there...its not so bad after all. Stay healthy and safe !!!
We're into the last stretch of summer for better or for worse. Local cyclists are enjoying the cooler weather and there are still weeks of prime pedaling weather to enjoy. This Norco hybrid below recently came into to shop, and golly, it didn't need much to get it humming again. Its a larger 20" frame, suitable for a taller rider, with indexed or friction shifting as preferred. $60.... After Labour Day. shop hours will be reduced to Thurs Fri Sat, 9-5. Outside of those hours, call me if you have a bike urgency. Thank you for your continued support and business. ;- ) Ian T
So is it hot enough for you ??? Here at Lake Bernard Bicycle Repair, the shop doors are open on both ends of the building to allow those lake breezes to keep things as cool as possible. Talking about hot, used bikes are a hot commodity right now. They don't seem to hang around here very long. But heres onr more to have a look at. This black mtn bike is youth sized (24" wheel) and fully suspended . Give me a call if you're interested in this ride. Thats all I've got to say...time for an iced tea !!!

During the COVID times we are presently in, cycling has really gained in popularity. This Spring I have worked on some long-neglected bikes that are being called back into service...and that's great ! Here in Almaguin cycling is great exercise and unlike walking...the darn blackflies can't catch you. With the schools closed, now more than ever, bicycles have been an outlet for kids to get some activity and positive family time. I notice lots of families out for cycling adventures Would this have happened had COVID not put our lives into lockdown...I wonder ??? Anway, the shop is ticking along as usual. Customers have been quite respectful of social distancing. We're all doing what we can to get through this challenge. Happy Trails...Ian

We're having an interesting Spring 2020. However I will carry on as best I can with bicycles repairs. Please call me if I can assist you in making your bicycle roadworthy (trailworthy ?) for this Spring. The COVID situation has certainly affected the bicycle industry as well..... accessibility of parts is beginning to be an issue. We'll just have to work around it.
Thanks so much for liking this page. The best advertising is simply word-of-mouth....positive reviews from customers.

Monitor the mechanical fitness of your bike. Noises ( squeaks and rub sounds) indicate something is out of adjustment. Get it looked at while it is still easy and inexpensive to fix. " A stitch in time saves nine. "
Not keeping your bicycle tires at their correct air pressure is great for people in my line of work. It keeps us busy fixing flats and bent/damaged rims. So here's a short epistle on why you need to keep your bike tires pumped up. 1. Tires are designed to function best at an optimum pressure. This creates the correct profile of contact patch "where rubber meets the road". Over or under inflated tires wear prematurely and do not perform properly. 2.Especially on alloy rims, a... correctly inflated tire provides structural integrity to the rim. You're going to bend a rim if you're riding on a soft tire. 3. Pinch flats occur when the wheel hits a bump and because the tire is too soft, the tube gets pinched between the rim and the road. Often the telltale sign is a "snakebite" hole in the tube...2 wee pinprick holes . So there you have it....save yourself some frustration by keeping your bicycle tires at their correct pressure.
