Did you know that March is Nutrition Month? While many of us will focus on eating right and getting a healthy mix of fresh fruits, veggies and proteins, 1 in 7 Canadians will struggle to get any food at all for themselves and their families. COVID-19 has pushed more Canadians into hunger: more than 5 million Canadians are now food insecure. At the same time, there are 11.2 million metric tonnes of healthy, unsold, surplus food going to landfill every year that’s enough to feed every Canadian for five months.

A huge thank you to Barry Rhodes and Brian Graf for the planned food drive this weekend which was canceled. A great deal of work and heart went into developing this drive. Lake Country Food Bank has been updated that food drives can be held if Covid protocol plans are approved by Interior Health. Lake Country Food Bank is grateful for such acts of kindness and support!
