Come Join Us! The churches in Lakefield have come together this Advent and Christmas season to bring a little Joy to the World. We will host the event via live Zoom and you can sing your heart out online! Gather in your social bubbles, wear your Christmas sweater, put out a plate of treats, and celebrate with us this season.... We are pleased to provide limited seating in the sanctuary for those who cannot access the online carol sing. The in-person event will be conducted like a concert with no singing. To reserve a seat, please email or call Lakefield Baptist Church and provide your name, contact information and the number of seats you are reserving. Seats will be offered on first come, first served basis. Your reservation will be confirmed so you know you have a seat. Contact information for the church: Contact the church between Nov 22-29 to reserve your seat. 705 652 8056 [email protected] Please note, the office is only staffed Tuesday & Thursday from 9-12, but you can leave a message. Your reservation will be confirmed by the church. COVID-19 protocols at the church include screening, contact tracing, masks, hand sanitizer and physical distancing. A wonderful team of volunteers will be delighted to assist in keeping us all safe. For more information on these protocols please visit: http://lakefieldbaptist.com/ Traditionally, the Christmas Carol Sing for the community supports local charities. We are so appreciative of the AOTS Men’s group and Vince Abrahamse from Lakefield United Church who have faithfully prepared and led this service over the years with so many wonderful community members. We didn’t want to miss the opportunity to gather this year when we most need that sense of community. In recognition that we cannot gather for our annual Community Carol Sing, we are trying something new. However, we still want to support our local Food Bank. Please consider making a donation this season. Find out more here: http://www.stjohnslakefield.ca//what-w/lakefield-food-bank Please note that a cash donation is always appreciated as it allows the foodbank staff to stock the shelves with what they most need. I would have pulled Joseph out. Out of that pit. Out of that prison. Out of that pain. And I would have cheated nations out of the one God would use to deliver... them from famine. I would have pulled David out. Out of Saul’s spear-throwing presence. Out of the caves he hid away in. Out of the pain of rejection. And I would have cheated Israel out of a God-hearted king. I would have pulled Esther out. Out of being snatched from her only family. Out of being placed in a position she never asked for. Out of the path of a vicious, power-hungry foe. And I would have cheated a people out of the woman God would use to save their very lives. And I would have pulled Jesus off. Off of the cross. Off of the road that led to suffering and pain. Off of the path that would mean nakedness and beatings, nails and thorns. And I would have cheated the entire world out of a Savior. Out of salvation. Out of an eternity filled with no more suffering and no more pain. And oh friend. I want to pull you out. I want to change your path. I want to stop your pain. But right now I know I would be wrong. I would be out of line. I would be cheating you and cheating the world out of so much good. Because God knows. He knows the good this pain will produce. He knows the beauty this hardship will grow. He’s watching over you and keeping you even in the midst of this. And He’s promising you that you can trust Him. Even when it all feels like more than you can bear. So instead of trying to pull you out, I’m lifting you up. I’m kneeling before the Father and I’m asking Him to give you strength. To give you hope. I’m asking Him to protect you and to move you when the time is right. I'm asking Him to help you stay prayerful and discerning. I'm asking Him how I can best love you and be a help to you. And I’m believing He’s going to use your life in powerful and beautiful ways. Ways that will leave your heart grateful and humbly thankful for this road you’ve been on. - Written by Kimberly Henderson of Prov. 31 Ministries -

Please share this release from Peterborough Public Health... Peterborough Public Health is advising anyone who visited Kawartha Country Wines in Buckhorn on Sat...urday, October 3, 2020 between 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms for 14 days. PPH was notified today that a positive case from outside the Peterborough area visited the site during these hours and is issuing this public notice to ensure other patrons are aware. Kawartha Country Wines is located at 2452 County Road 36, Buckhorn, Ontario. We are asking anyone who visited this location at this time to self-monitor their symptoms for the next 14 days, until October 17, and if they develop symptoms, please self-isolate and seek out testing, advised Dr. Rosana Salvaterra, Medical Officer of Health. While the risk is low, this serves as a strong reminder to avoid non-essential travel between regions and to follow all recommended public health measures to prevent the spread of the virus. All residents tested for COVID-19 due to symptoms must remain in self-isolation until their results are available. Dr. Salvaterra also encouraged residents to download the COVID Alert app as it is designed to alert others to potential exposures in these situations. See more
