Crews have completed all repairs and are currently flushing the watermains in the area of south/central Cobourg. All customers’ water supply has been restored, however flushing will continue until approximately 9pm tonight. The flushing will cause reduced/low water pressure and discolouration. If customers notice discoloured water, they are asked to wait until after the flushing is complete and then to run their cold water taps until the water becomes clear. Please also avoid doing laundry while flushing is underway. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Today the Ontario Energy Board announced new, lower electricity prices for households and small businesses, effective May 1, 2021, under the Regulated Price Plan (RPP).
Lakefront has shut down a section of water supply to replace two broken watermain valves. Customers along Queen St, Charles St, Church St, Albert St & Division St South in Cobourg will be without water until approximately midnight. If customers notice discoloured water once the service is restored, they are asked to run their cold water tap until the water becomes clear and refrain from doing laundry.

The watermain on Boulton Street in Cobourg has been repaired and crews are currently on site flushing. Customers may experience discoloured and/or cloudy water for another few hours. Electricity to the Town of Cobourg is provided through two feeders (M4 & M2) from Hydro Ones station in Port Hope. The M2 feeder is out. A crew is on site looking at fault indicators. There is an auto-reclosure issue which is likely due to the storm. More updates will be posted as received.

Julie from Lakefront Utilities presented Karin Cummings, Senior Program Coordinator of The Help Centre, with a cheque for $3,000 to further support Lakefront customers by increasing funding for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP). With the extended disconnection ban ending today, July 31st, the need for LEAP will be greater this year with more consumers meeting the eligibility criteria due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lakefront Utilities provides a review of yesterday's power outage which affected over 8,000 customers in the Town of Cobourg.
Power has been restored to those affected in Cobourg. Lakefront is continuing to monitor the situation. Currently there is increased load on the system. Lakefront is asking customers to please limit their electric usage this evening to help decrease strain and prevent another outage. If you are still without power, please call 905-372-2193
An attempt to energize the transformer at Brook Road substation was made earlier, but tripped due to too much load. Lakefront then energized one of the feeders at the Brook substation which supplies power to most of the affected customers. It held for approximately 15 minutes but then tripped again. Lakefront is currently working to switch and reduce some of the load in an effort to restore power.
Crews are still on site at the Brook Road substation in Cobourg testing cables and the transformer. We do not have an estimated time of restoration.
