FYI Friday: How to tell if a man in your life is struggling This Movember- we are talking all about men's mental health but how can you tell if a man in your life is struggling? There are some common symptoms of depression anyone can experience, which can include being withdrawn, losing interest in friends and activities you used to enjoy, and difficulty concentrating on things. Men may be more likely to deny feelings of sadness or hopelessness or try to mask them with o...ther behaviours. When depressed, men can become irritable and aggressive, work compulsively, isolate themselves from friends and family, drink more than normal, and engage in high-risk activities. We should all be aware that men’s symptoms of depression may include physical pain, anger or irritability. Intervening early is the best predictor of healthier adulthood, so the mental health of adolescent boys and young men needs more attention and resources. See more
