Consider this tribute to Kathy....

The Lakehead Festival of Music & the Arts is saddened to lose one of the most dedicated members of our Festival family.Kathy Schmidt, former Co-Ordinator, and music teacher passed away on Sunday January 10.The Board of Directors recognizes her endless service to the Festival and the music community of Thunder Bay. Hundreds of Kathy’s students have participated in the Festival over the years. She felt the Festival was an extremely important event during a music students learning journey. Kathy was a selfless volunteer dedicating her time and boundless energy to the Festival. In Kathy’s memory the Festival will be sponsoring the Kathy Schmidt Piano Performance Award. She will be forever missed.

It is with regret that the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts Instrumental portion taking place from May 29th thru June 6th has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Information regarding refunds can be obtained from the teachers. We hope to see everyone back in 2021!

Regretfully, the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts Dance Competition for 2020 has been cancelled. Due to COVID-19, we do not want to put dancers, parents, teachers and family members at risk! Please stay safe and healthy and we hope to see everyone back in 2021!

The Instrumental portion of the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts has been rescheduled from May 29th to June 6th, 2020.

The LFMA Dance Competition has been postponed until May 15-18, 2020. Please contact your Studio Director for more information.
