Wise and beautiful thoughts which, if put into action, would make the world a better place.

Upcoming Sunday Service: Sunday, February 14 at 10:30 am Finding Your Tribe: The Power of Community Speaker: Anne Bokma In all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable is each other, wrote the astronomer Carl Sagan. Today 40% of people say they are chronically lonely. And COVID-19 is making us loneliner than ever. The decline in association with traditional religion corresponds with a rise in secular gatherings that create solidarity, ...enhance personal growth and allow for the kind of transcendence we usually associate with religious feelingeverything from death cafes to drumming circles, storytelling gatherings and social action. "There are always two worlds. The world, as it is, usually operates on power, ego, and success. The world, as it could be, operates out of love. One is founded on dominative power, and the other is a continual call to right relationship and reciprocal power. The secret of this Kingdom life is discovering how we can live in both worlds simultaneously." Richard Rohr

We enjoyed a wonderful service this morning, reminding us to connect with the holy and spiritual. Over the course of our lives, the form that speaks to us can change. In such difficult times, many of us were really touched by that message. The closing music, Holy Now by Peter Mayer expresses some of that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiypaURysz4

2 days to go! Tonight in the Fill Your Empty Bowl series, we want to highlight the wonderful vendors of the Thunder Bay Community Market who will be selling ...pre-made soup or ingredients this Saturday! We appreciate their ongoing support. Read on for details: Northern Unique, a long-time supporter, will be selling soup, at their stall and at their store. Saturday only, they will donate $1 from each litre sold. The Little Pie Shop will be featuring their best-selling stuffed pepper soup and will donate $1 from each one sold on Saturday. Cornell Farms will have chickens and recipes so you can make the delicious chicken noodle soup featured here last night. Big Lake Pasta is partnering with Thunder Oak Cheese to make a delectable mac n cheese kit for you to make at home. What a great way to plan your day: go to the market in the morning, drive by the Moose Hall and get your bowl between 11-4, and then head home and have your very own Empty Bowls event. Buy your ticket or donate here (almost sold out!) Http://emptybowls-thunderbay.square.site/
