Anybody looking for a groomer for your precious fur babies this is your Lady 100% check her out, you won’t regret it
Can we please normalize Veterinary Medicine and treat it like Human Medicine? -Call in ADVANCE to make wellness appointments. We are extremely busy, especially... now, so it may take a week or two to fit you in. -If it's an emergency, by all means, call your primary care veterinarian first, but if we can't fit you in, GO TO AN EMERGENCY HOSPITAL. Don't yell and scream and demand to be seen because you've been "a long time client". You wouldn't call your pediatrician in the middle of the day and demand them to treat your son/daughter's broken leg would you? -If going to an emergency hospital, be prepared to wait. Animal ER works just like Human ER. Most critical cases are seen first. Doesn't mean you won't get care, it just means you may have to wait a couple of hours. -Yes, ER may cost more, but they're eqipped with more staff and equipment to accommodate emergency situations. -It takes time to do things. Lots of time. Running bloodwork, taking xrays, filling meds, etc. IT TAKES TIME. Be patient. Veterinary Nurses in ER will usually have multiple cases at once, and most times there is only ONE Veterinarian. -We are ALL VERY OVERWHELMED and STRESSED. We love our jobs and our patients but we only have so many hours in the day. PLEASE BE KIND. Be courteous, be understanding and please, please, please just be better prepared. Veterinary Medicine is not here to cater to you. Thank you. Please spay and neuter your pets. Vaccines are a good thing. Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitoes.
When it’s been a long week but it’s finally the weekend
YOU HAVE TO WATCH THESE ANIMALS
Has anyone lost an iPhone (6?) in the clinic parking lot recently. Found it this morning
Let’s chat about Parvo virus for a minute. We have had 3 dogs this week brought into the clinic that all tested positive for parvovirus. This is very concerning to us as we very obviously need to get the word out about vaccinating your pets and the importance of it. CPV is a very hearty virus and can live in the environment for years. It is resistant to weather and can only be killed with certain disinfectants. It is transmitted by direct or indirect contact from infected fe...ces. You can transmit it simply by stepping on the virus and bringing it home on your shoes. If you have had parvo in dogs before, then you need to be especially concerned about bringing a new dog into your home that is not fully vaccinated. This virus attacks the digestive system and basically, does not allow any nutrients to be absorbed. It also causes vomiting and bloody diarrhea, without treatment 90% of infected dogs will die, usually from dehydration. What can you do? It’s simple: *ensure you’re new pet receives all of their vaccinations to start with. Our recommendation is to vaccinate at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, then every year to boost their immunity. In older, new to you pets, we recommend one vaccine, booster in one month, then yearly after that. *DO NOT take your new puppy or pet to places that frequent other dogs until their series of vaccines have been completed. *DO pick up after your pet immediately to minimize contamination of the ground and keep other pets safe. If you have any questions or concerns about CPV, please let us know and we would be happy to answer what you need to know. We care about your pets and want to do our best to keep them safe!
