Strong women helping save men’s lives. The Ride For Dad is grateful to the hundreds of strong, determined, and compassionate women fighting against prostate can...cer across Canada. Today we recognize three women for their commitment to the cause. Linda Galloway, National Projects Specialist, brings her passion and experience to the Ride creating exciting National marketing and awareness events to help fundraise in impactful and creative ways. Dr. Juanita Crook, Professor of Radiation Oncology, University of British Columbia, and volunteer member of the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation Medical Advisory Board. Her outstanding expertise surrounding prostate cancer is invaluable to our Ride For Dad team. Kristine Hamlyn is Co-Chair of the Motorcycle Ride For Dad in Avalon, Newfoundland. Kristine represents so many of the amazing Canadian women dedicating their skills and many hours of their own personal time ensuring incredible events and fundraising. Thank you to all the women in so many key roles as we fight prostate cancer together. #internationalwomensday2021 #prostatecancer #ridefordad See more

The Ride For Dad is saddened to hear of the passing of Walter Gretzky. He was such an incredible advocate of the Ride For Dad's fight against prostate cancer. W...e fondly remember him at a professional baseball game supported by the Ride For Dad in 2017. We had the honour of watching Walter throw the first ball to his grandson Trevor. The standing ovation that evening spoke loudly of the love and respect for Walter. You will be missed. Condolences to the entire Gretkzy family. See more

As President and Co-Founder of the Ride For Dad, Garry Janz takes pride in knowing that men are getting a simple PSA blood test in part due to the awareness mes...sage from the Ride For Dad. Receiving messages from men that the Ride For Dad saved my life continues to drive Garry forward in the fight against prostate cancer. Garry works closely with the researchers and the Medical Advisory Board to ensure that funds raised in communities across Canada benefit research and awareness in those same areas. Garry will forever be grateful for the continuing support of all the thousands of volunteers, donors, participants and sponsors. The fight against prostate cancer is as strong as ever as we fight to keep families together. Photo credit: Michelle Valberg Photography See more

In 1993, Charlie Pester received devastating news that he had Prostate Cancer and had an estimated 6 to 12 months to live. Charlie didn’t give up hope and fough...t the disease for five years. While Charlie was at the Cancer Centre, he met Garry Janz, who was working on a documentary about cancer survivors. Garry remembers Charlie as a robust, gregarious man. Charlie made a powerful statement to Garry and this statement changed everything. "If someone had told me a year ago to have a PSA test, I would not be going home to plan my own funeral". This was the inspiration of the very first Ride For Dad and still motivates us to keep the fight alive today. In Charlie's memory, please get a simple PSA blood test. If you are able to make a donation, please visit www.ridefordad.ca. Your donation will help us continue to fight prostate cancer through research and awareness. #worldcancerday2021 See more
