Please leave us a voicemail, email or text and we will get back to you by end of day tomorrow. Our Telehealth Triage nurse is available should you call the office, and please call the Walker Road Animal Hospital in case of emergency. Also - check out Dr. Martin's most recent article in the Kingsville Times :) Have a great day everyone!
Tomorrow is our first heartworm testing day of the season! This will be a busy, fast paced day therefore, we will be unable to do regular appointments, sales or answer phones. Our Pet Nurse will be available if you call (for clients only) or you can leave a message and we will answer as soon as we can the following business day. If you have an emergency tomorrow please go to Walker Road Animal Hospital.

We are starting to book for HEARTWORM TESTING! As we are still operating with curb-side appointments, heartworm test appointments (which involve a quick blood sample) will be performed as drive-up appointments beginning the first week of April on WEDNESDAYS, as described below. Check your email for more details. YOUR HEARTWORM TEST APPOINTMENT: 1- Call our office to schedule your pet’s heartworm test appointment for April 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th -We ask that you PREPAY f...or these appointment slots since we will not be taking payment on the day of the test. -Please indicate if you would like to pick up prevention when booking 2- Please arrive at your scheduled appointment time and remain in your vehicle. 3- Your pet will be collected from your car by a staff member wearing PPE and a blood sample will be taken inside the building. Additional Screening Bloodwork - We are offering two bloodwork profiles that you can add on to your pet's Heartworm Test. We recommend doing yearly bloodwork so that we can find and treat diseases early. Also, doing bloodwork at this time offers significant cost savings. Check out our fun video demonstrating how it all works! See more
Have you dowloaded our app? It is an easy way to refill prescriptions - Goose will show you how it works. Ask us for help getting started (you will need an activation code).
Ticks and Fleas are active! We recommend Simparica to protect your pet from all FIVE species of ticks we have in our area. One chew every month will protect your animal from the diseases some of these ticks carry, as well as the discomfort and sometimes allergic reactions some pets can have with fleas. Call today to pick up your spring prevention.

**UPDATE: We are very happy to report that this handsome guy has found a wonderful home. Thank you all for sharing and spreading the word :) We do not typically have pets up for adoption - but this guy came to us with extenuating circumstances. We are hoping to find him his fur-ever home. He is very sweet, affectionate and well socialized. He is neutered, FIV/FELV tested (negative) and fully vaccinated. Help us find this handsome boy a home! Contact the clinic for more information or if you are interested in adopting him.
National Toothache Day was February 9th, 2021, but oral care is important every day of the year! Check out this post by the American Association of Feline Practitioners for more info on why dental care is SO important for your cat: https://catfriendly.com//routine-caregro/care-cats-teeth/

It is Veterinary Technician appreciation month and we would like to celebrate it by shining the spotlight on our very own Celeste! We recently celebrated Celeste's 5 YEAR anniversary with the Lakeside Team. We can't believe it has been 5 years since Celeste has been a part of the Lakeside Family. She consistently gives 110%, going the extra mile to help our clients and patients. Here are a few snapshots we wanted to share of Celeste at work during COVID - a time that has been... extra hard for veterinary technicians all over Canada. There have been so many additional stressors, on top of an already challenging profession - she has handled it with positivity and optimism. Thanks for all you do Celeste!! O! and we celebrated by going to the theater (one of Celeste's favourite things!), where we were able to spread out to enjoy the movie....and we brought a cardboard cut out, so the team could take socially distanced photos with Celeste! :) See more
CURBSIDE CONTINUES: Good afternoon everyone. These certainly are stressful times, as our province appears to be heading into a second wave. We will be continuing to operate via curbside appointments for the time-being. We are still wading through the backlog of annual physical exam appointments, as well as routine procedures such as spays, neuters and dental surgeries. We cannot thank you enough for your continued support, and your patience. We are in the process of implement...ing some new platforms to improve communication and serve you better, including a 2-way texting app, online food orders and after-hours telemedicine. Please bear with us, as implementation is taking a bit longer than anticipated! Stay-tuned for more updates on all of this soon! In the meantime, we wanted to review/remind everyone of a few things regarding our curbside appointments: 1) Please remain in your vehicle: when you arrive, please call the office and let us know you are here. A staff member, wearing PPE, will come to your vehicle to collect your pet. 2) Wear a mask: please wear a mask, even for curbside appointments. Often, pets are being handed to staff, or supplies collected from staff and a 6-foot distance is not possible. 3) Please have your cats in a safe carrier. 4) Please ensure that your dog’s collar, harness or head collar are secure. 5) Please stay at the office for the duration of your appointment: appointment times will vary, depending on the nature of your pet’s visit. Dr. Martin will be phoning from inside the building to provide instruction, get consent for procedures or to obtain additional history. Again, thank you for your patience! We are all in this together. See more
A glimpse into vet tech life
It’s vet tech week! Vet techs have been SOOO hard at work during COVID. This video is a few years old - but seems even more relevant today - especially the part where they love your pets when you can’t be there. Thank you vet techs for all you do!!!
*CLARIFICATION* There has been some confusion in the last 24 hours. Celeste and Mackenzie have rescheduled several appointments, as I have had to stay home with my children. Both have developed runny noses after starting daycare last week. As will become more common as our children return to daycare and school, the daycare has been taking appropriate precautions and requested they have a negative COVID test before their return. This is going to be a challenging time for ever...y parent. As both a parent and small business owner, I am doing my best to balance both. Unfortunately, misinformation about the situation has spread and we have had inquiries about a shut-down due to a case of COVID. Please rely on information from reliable resources when dealing with information of this kind. It is important that we support our local businesses, trust information provided by public health officials, and all do everything we can to stop the spread. I will be staying home with my children until they have been cleared to return to daycare. Dr. Martin See more
Thanksgiving won't look like it usually does....but there will still be some Thanksgiving hazards to remember for our pets. For safety tips please visit the link below. Just a reminder that we will be closed Monday for the holiday. Have a great long weekend!
It is with a heavy heart, that we inform you of the passing of our beloved clinic cat Albie. He unfortunately developed end-stage kidney disease, and the Lakeside Family made the difficult decision to proceed with euthanasia on Wednesday. Words cannot describe the void he leaves in our workplace, and in our hearts. He was always there to greet clients at the door, give your shoelaces a scratch or perform an entertaining summersault. Always up for accepting affection espe...cially from youngsters, he was never far from being under-foot. Albie was also definitely a trouble-maker many will be familiar with the Ablie discount on bags of food that had been pierced by his teeth, and he would often wander into rooms he knew were off-limits- including the xray and surgery suites. He also had an important role as Lakeside’s nurse helping with patients in recovery - meowing to wake them in their groggy-post-op state and cuddling with them to provide extra warmth. He did not have any fear and had more than one ‘close call’ when getting too close to patients of the canine variety. His partner in crime and closest companion, Annie, will undoubtedly miss him dearly. They have been inseparable from the get-go. We are getting many more snuggles in with her during these recent days without her buddy close by. We have included some of our favourite photos of Albie in this post from Dr. Martin’s first day of work at Lakeside in 2011, where he came to hang out on her desk and welcome her to his participation in our daily rounds sessions, being the model on our Christmas card and Easter posts, and of course, endless cuddles with Annie. Albie, we will miss you buddy. See more
IMPORTANT UPDATE: We are as excited as you are to be transitioned into Phase 3! However, for the time-being, we are going to be maintaining curbside appointments and contactless pick-ups.... We have made the decision to keep our doors closed, so that we can serve you better. We have limited staffing and need to avoid any exposure that could lead to extended shutdowns. We are also able to see more patients throughout the day if we remain closed, as this decreases the time needed for disinfecting/sanitizing rooms in-between appointments. We are fortunate to have been able to maintain veterinary services from the onset of COVID, and we would like to keep it this way! We continue to work through our backlog of routine appointments, while triaging those who are unwell. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm, and will update you with any schedule changes. Stay safe everyone! We miss you!
Having a bit of fun on our last Heartworm Test day! Keeping our spirits up during these challenging times - stay safe, stay positive everyone
Hi All! We have completed our third "heartworm test" day here at the Kingsville Animal Clinic. We are running one more next Wednesday, so be sure to give us a call to save your spot if you have not been in yet! We are so glad to be seeing everyone - even if it is at a distance!
Be sure to check out Dr. Martin's bi-weekly column in the Kingsville Times. Here is her first article :)
Today is the first of our Heartworm Test days! We have a tight schedule of pre-arranged appointments, and so our office will be closed. Please leave us a voicemail and we will return your call tomorrow. If you have an emergency please call the Walker Road Animal Hospital at 519-972-9000.
A reminder to start Heartworm prevention June 1st. We are using Simparica Trio this year which also provides excellent tick prevention. Call the office to schedule your pet's drive-up heartworm and tick screening test for this year. Stay safe and stay healthy everyone!
We can finally start HEARTWORM TESTING! As we are still operating with a mandated closed-door policy, heartworm test appointments (which involve a quick blood sample) prove to be a difficult undertaking due to our longer appointment times and our parking limitations. We have therefore come up with a unique solution to help our patients get their annual blood draw as soon as possible. All heartworm tests will be performed as drive-up appointments at our sister office, the K...ingsville Animal Clinic, as described below. YOUR HEARTWORM TEST APPOINTMENT: 1- Call our office to schedule your pet’s heartworm test appointment -We ask that you prepay for these appointment slots as we will be unable to take payment on the day of the test -Please indicate if you would like to pick up heartworm prevention when booking 2- Please arrive at your scheduled appointment time and remain in your vehicle. Please check your email for more details on the profiles. Finally, we would like to sincerely THANK all of our clients for their patience and understanding. As we wade through these difficult and ever-changing times, working our best to accommodate everyone and be innovative in the way we deliver veterinary care, we appreciate your support! See more
IMPORTANT UPDATE CONCERNING VETERINARY SERVICES IN KINGSVILLE: We are fortunate to have been named by the Premier as one of the industries that can resume regular services. We are also excited to get everyone up to date and back on track! However, it is crucial that we maintain proper social distancing protocols for the safety of our staff and clientele. We are also still unfortunately limited by childcare availability. For this reason, we will be maintaining our ‘curb-sid...e pick-up’ and ‘drive-up appointment’ protocols as well as our decreased hours for the next few weeks. Rest assured that we are working on some changes to our establishment as we prepare to open our doors safely. We are now able to schedule routine procedures including annual vaccine appointments, spay and neuter procedures, heartworm tests as well as dental procedures. However, there is a significant backlog of patients who have been postponed due to the pandemic. We will be working through our list to contact everyone as soon as we can, so we appreciate your understanding and patience during this unique time. Stay tuned for our announcement next week regarding our heartworm testing procedure for this year. Stay safe and have a good long weekend. See more
