Orphan Lake is an 8-kilometre loop trail that has a little bit of everything! This moderately difficult trail features lookouts over an inland lake (Orphan Lake) and Lake Superior. About halfway around the loop, the trail brings you out onto the coast of Lake Superior where you will find colourful pebbles and the mouth of the Baldhead River. On your way back up to the parking lot from the beach, you will come across lookouts over waterfalls and cliff faces. Spring flowers are abundant in the valley, and mosses and lichens pepper the forest floor. Set aside 2-4 hours to complete this iconic Lake Superior Provincial Park trail!

Unfortunately, we have run out of firewood at both the Agawa Bay and Rabbit Blanket Lake campgrounds. Please remember gathering sticks, dead or live wood, or brush for campfires while camping in the campground is prohibited in Provincial Parks. We will continue to post updates on our social media pages and we thank you for your cooperation.

We have spotted some very sad looking birch trees around the park lately... Please do not remove bark from live trees! Not only is it illegal and unsightly, it is very harmful to the tree. It's akin to peeling off their skin and makes them prone to pests and pathogens. The same is true for carving words or symbols into the bark of a living tree. ... Don't forget: It is illegal to cut or damage live growth anywhere within the park. The minimum fine is between $125 - $150. Collecting dead wood for a campfire is permitted in the backcountry ONLY. You may NOT collect dead wood in any Ontario Parks campground. It is simply not sustainable with the high volume of campers and this organic material is important to the forest ecosystem. It's up to all of us to work together to keep our forests healthy and our trees happy! . . . Ontario Parks Ontario Parks NW

Attention Park Visitors! Please be advised that the Agawa Rock Pictographs are closed to the public starting September 20th. With the high waves and rainy days throughout the fall, the rock becomes very slippery and waves often crash up and over the rock face which makes it incredibly difficult to safely navigate. All of our other trails remain open but please plan according to the weather and stay safe out there! Happy October :)!
