On November 28, 2016, British Columbia will transition to a new Societies Act. This new legislation will affect how non-profits operate and a simple transition application will need to be filed. The Real Estate Council of British Columbia has announced new rules regarding assignments of real estate purchase and sale contracts. These new rules will take effect on May 16, 2016, and will require clauses to be included in all standard contracts, which will effectively prevent assignments.
