Lake Windermere Whiteway

Before we get right into this weeks update we wanted to give a big thank you to our small but mighty group of volunteers who came out last Sunday to clean up th...e Whiteway! We had 6 volunteers total, who removed an amazing TWO full buckets of dog poop, and another bucket of various waste! Thanks also to the volunteer who found an abandoned buoy that was not removed before the freeze! If you have a buoy in the lake don't forget, they need to come out before the lake freezes every year, and to also register them with your contact information so they can be returned to you if found! Now, for an update! Lake Windermere remains in fair condition, the skating trail is getting wetter and wetter with each mild day we have so be sure you get out and enjoy it before it is gone! The skate ski lane was re-tracked today! Lake Lillian and Junior Johnson have also been in great condition and are getting their skate ski lanes re-tracked today as well. If you are out enjoying the lake and notice something that shouldn't be there please help us out and pick it up before it melts into water!

What a beautiful day to enjoy the Whiteway! Best skating is between Timber Ridge and Terra Vista, and Windermere to Indian Beach. Worst skating is just out of K...insmen beach to Timber Ridge. Ski trails have been set, if you’re out walking take a look for the walking trail beside the ski trail! Lake Lillian is also in great skiing condition! Hope you get out and enjoy this weekend! Happy Monday! We hope everyone got outside this weekend and enjoyed some winter fun! Thanks to the snow we were able to get xc ski tracks down on Lake Windermer...e, skating is in fair condition and will hopefully continue to improve. There is currently about 10km of trail along the east side of Lake Windermere from Kinsmen Beach to Indian Beach. Lake Lillian remains in excellent shape - lots of options to get out and enjoy! Our maintenance team has been working hard to bring some better news for the Whiteway! Brad spent 5+ hours yesterday in the scraper cleaning up the ice on the e...ast side of the lake, it is currently about 5/10 and he will be out there again today getting it up to a 7/10. If you see Brad be sure to thank him for all his hard work! Hope to see you out there this weekend!

Further to our earlier update, there appears to be some large (leg sized) holes in the ice at kinsmen beach, we’re not sure how many or how far out these go so we advise everyone to stay off the ice until it refreezes completely!
