Today I am drawn to tune into unseen forces at play that are impacting and influencing our mindset. Not only are the leaves on the trees burning at a rapid rate, we seem to be in a race to get somewhere, but where? These times are not for the faint of heart, but still, this chapter in history pales to the experience of prolonged political, social, and religious unrest and war. My Mum shared stories of being a child in England during WW2, carrying a large, heavy gas mask to school every day, going through periods of not having simple things like butter and having air raid sirens embedded in her psyche. My grandfather was a WW1 veteran, and he survived mustard gas by urinating into his hanky and holding it over his face. We are a soft lot by comparison yet we come from this kind of grit, and we need to access it. It is our perceptions we need to be most mindful. They are powerful and can either move into the positive or negative or ride down the middle. We need to summon inner strength and self-belief that we can endure and change internally and externally for the better. It is darkest before the dawn. Highlights: Connection with the self: Imagine being in a Medieval torture chamber suspended from the ceiling in a cage. The cell has huge openings, large enough to escape quickly. The only problem is it looks like a significant drop to the ground. Will you survive thinking is paralyzing. So you are not trapped but stuck in a bit of fear of this leap of faith. You need to decide what is better - staying or leaping? Connection with others: Sometimes, when we share something we are going through with even our best friend, we can be balled over by their opinions and suggestions. We walk away feeling a bit not heard and confused. We might have received excellent advice, but we were not looking for it. We were trying to share. Let’s take this as a great lesson to listen deeply to others. To not to make suggestions or offer advice unless they ask. Let’s start a trend and create and hold a space for ourselves and others to indulge in the intimacy of sharing. Obstacles: Losing sight of balance and falling into excess, moving too quickly to transition, leaving prematurely, speaking before getting all the information, jumping to conclusions, We are letting too much drain out at once. Too much energy-depleting or letting go of resources too quickly. Settle the sewer cover back into place and allow it to do its job. Outcomes: More balance, more objectivity, more discernment is coming around, making choices, setting into motion change. Advice: Notice where you have no boundaries around keeping things in balance.
