With these new restrictions coming in, I am starting to understand the slow descent into madness that Joaquin Phoenix's "Joker" character possessed! I feel so bad for my couples. I know my level of frustration and complete and utter helplessness, I can only imagine how they are feeling. Right now, I am the middle man bearing the bad news...but I feel like the grim reaper coming to kill the last of their wedding dreams, and even though they are not my rules and restrictions, ...I am the one having to enforce them...otherwise I am part of the problem that is killing the events industry right now. This isn't just slowly killing my business, it is killing my business quickly. A business I have put my heart and soul and money in to for the last 6 years! Owning a venue is not a cheap venture to be in. Look at the scale I am working on...everything is grande in scale - means nothing is cheap. Even if I don't have events, I still have costs. I have to maintain everything for when I have site tours. I still have to finish projects I promised my couples - and if those projects require help, whether it is professional or not, I have to pay someone to come and help. Or, if it is a project my husband needs to take time off to do, we loose the truck income for that time period - the only income we have had coming in this whole time. I started this venue, because I believe in true love, I really do just love "Love"!! I didn't do this to get rich, I did this because I knew first hand how expensive weddings have become over the years, and I wanted to offer an alternative. I wanted to start a venue where my couples feel taken care of and as stress-free as possible while I take care of the details. I don't believe in noting it every time I get a text or email from my couple, and I will respond immediately if I am available - because I don't view my couples as "business", I view them as people who become temporary members of my family. Unfortunately, this industry has taken such an immense hit resulting in frustrations and emotions running so high, that some couples end up viewing us as just a business, instead of people trying to earn a life doing what they love. But please, know that I really am here to help. I will try and help you navigate through all of this, just as I am trying to navigate through all of this. I would love it if my current couples would stay with La Lune so that, when we are able, we can make your wedding day dreams come true together...because believe me when I say, once we are able to celebrate, we will hit the ground running and ready to go! Back in 1998, after we moved to where we are now, I had a vision of creating a wedding venue, but it wasn't time. My husband and I decided in 2006 to buy a semi truck, and he would become a long-haul driver...we sacrificed a lot by making that decision. Then, around 2012 I started thinking about doing the venue again...but this time, it was because I wanted to get my husband off the truck. I felt he had sacrificed enough being on the road and away from us for 6 years. So ...on May 30th, 2015 Willy & Angel became our first couple to get married at La Lune! It started slow, but grew fairly quickly. We have made changes and improved things along the way to make things easier and less stressful for our couples. I try to provide the best service I can possibly give. As a small, independently owned and family operated business, I have to wear, not just a couple hats, I have to wear aaaallllll the hats! 2020 kicked our bahookies in ways I couldn't even imagine...2021 might be kicking us while we're down...but we will get back up. We will continue to do what we do, as best as we possibly can. We are still here for you, and want you to have the wedding day you have dreamt of. My husband is still driving truck, and thank goodness, because I don't know what we would have done this last year if he wasn't. BUT, I will reach my goal of getting him off that truck...this I know. Release the inner child, and let them play games! One of the most common questions I get here is, "what can we do to keep our guests here AND entertained between the ceremony and reception?". My response is always "lawn games!". People love lawn games. There is just something whimsical about it. It brings out the inner child (and the competitor) in everyone...and is hilarious to watch.... But so many people find it a hassle to coral a bunch of games (having to ask friends and family), so, we decided to make a games package! So I would classify yesterday's open house as a resounding success! I would like to thank everyone that participated: - Modern Plate Catering - Joy Coffee Bar - Summer Bounce Entertainment... - Geranium Lake Botanicals - Michael Scorr Photography - Let's Celebrate Rentals (came to my rescue at the last minute as well!!!) - C+T Rentals - Simply Perfect Linens - Samantha's Hobbies (for the DELICIOUS cupcakes and gorgeous cake) As special thank you to Kelsey Brown, for just jumping in and getting some last minute things done without me even realizing you were doing them, and for such fabulous Instagram coverage of the event - you rock!!!! Now, I have to say a very special, and heartfelt thank you to my sister-in-law, Sarah and my friend, Bryanne from Simply You Events. Ladies, words cannot express my gratitude for you. Without you, that open house would have looked a "little" different I think! What people don't know, is on Monday morning to Monday night I became very sick, like VERRRRY sick. So I was unable to get anything done for the Open House set up. Sarah had texted me at some point in the day (that whole day is a little foggy to me), asking what time I wanted her out here for Tuesday, I said 9:00 would be great (I didn't tell her I was sick though, cause I didn't want to scare her off!). Then at 10:30 at night, I sent Bryanne a message through FB, because I noticed she was on-line. I told her what happened, and asked her if there was any possible way she would be able to come down and give me a hand with the set-up...no questions asked, she said she could be here by 10:00 - WITH coffee! Sarah, you are here every weekend for weddings, and do an amazing job every time you are here. Your attitude is always so positive, you are so generous with your time and there is always a smile on your face...you are amazing and I am so proud and thankful to be your sister-in-law. Love you! Bryanne, my friend. You simply continue to amaze me with your generous spirit and your positive attitude. You jumped in yesterday and came to my rescue without hesitation...you have no idea what that meant to me, and I will forever be grateful. Love you! They did not hire me to do their Event Planning, but it is a service I offer, from concept & design to set-up/tear-down. "My husband and I recently got married at La Lune, on a beautiful June day. We had 70 guests and had been anticipating this events for months and... months. Dianne and her staff absolutely blew us away; everything ran incredibly smooth. We hired Dianne to do the decor for us, which included designing and obtaining table decor, cutlery, plates, glasses, table clothes, linens etc. She did this all for an EXTREMELY reasonable price (I didn't want to spend the time or money on decor) and did THE BEST JOB! The decor was amazing! Not only is Dianne easy to work with, she is a problem solver; if you have a question/concern/problem, she will address it and figure it out. It was so great to have someone who basically acted like a wedding planner even though that is not her job. I can't say enough good things about her! The venue itself is incredible; located on a beautiful acreage, it truly showcases Manitoba's beauty. Every single one of our guests mentioned how much they loved the venue. From the outdoor bar/patio, to the rustic dining/reception area to the beautiful outdoor ceremony space.. it blew everyone away. And on top of that; the bridal cottage is absolutely amazing. My friends and I got ready in the cottage and enjoyed relaxing and getting ready; and then once we were ready, it was the perfect place for some mother daughter photos. It's so picturesque and cute! The entire place just radiates love and authenticity. Cannot recommend this place enough; thank you Dianne and La Lune for making our special so easy and beautiful.
