Introducing Jan. Jan has been a Registered Nurse with Lanark Village from the very beginning. She started before the doors ever opened to the first resident 33 years ago. When asked why Jan chose to work at Lanark Village she said I was looking for a change from hospital. Someplace I could make a difference. Lanark Village wasn’t open yet so it was an opportunity to get in at the ground level and ‘help’ it grow. Jan says that her favourite part of her job is making resid...ents laugh and helping them to increase or maintain their level of independence . Jan was originally going to become a veterinarian, but an accident in the family when she was in grade 13 caused her to shift her desire from helping animals to helping people. Outside of work Jan enjoys playing piano, shopping, gardening and enjoying her deck in the nice weather.
