This selection was definitely one of the most anticipated restaurant choices since our arrival in Vancouver, with my partner asking me, day after day: "Do you think it'll be good?" When it comes to dumplings, in Toronto I was spoiled. There is a brand called The Daily Dumpling Wonton Co. that makes Shanghainese-style dumplings ... the best I've ever had. ... https://lanaturafoods.wordpress.com//ugly-dumpling-commer/

I've passed by the building which houses Nightingale a number of times on my way to the chiropractor. It seems to be attached to this beautiful art-deco building called The Marine Building. My partner mentioned the structure, as well, as we walked by. Aside from the stunning entrance, there's a beautiful cornerstone with a scene of a zeppelin carved into it.... https://lanaturafoods.wordpress.com//nightingale-coal-har/

Last month, in February, I was on a mission to find an Indian grocery store. I was missing my Indian spices (which I left in my apartment in Toronto, and I'm sure my daughter is loving it), Mother's lime and mango pickle, some odds and ends - like chili-lime peanuts, and even the odd bottle of Limca, which I enjoy a few times per year.... https://lanaturafoods.wordpress.com//mirch-masala-surrey-/

As part of the "digging in" to the restaurant scene here in Vancouver, there were a ton of recommendations. One that came up was Cin Cin. I didn't know anything about the place, but as we started making our way over, I was skeptical because of the location (on Lower Robson). I was thinking "oh great, this is going to be tourist trap," and that thought flourished when I saw that it was above some retail spot on Robson and a few doors down from the Cactus Club.... https://lanaturafoods.wordpress.com//05/cin-cin-lower-rob/

There was a birthday to celebrate on January 15, and Chambar was definitely on the list of restos to visit early on in my Vancouver residency. I'd been there once before about five years ago for a business meeting and I remember that it was a very nice experience. You can tell by the featured image (from Tourism Vancouver) that they spared no expense in making the joint look good.... https://lanaturafoods.wordpress.com//02/20/chambar-chinat/

The very first weekend I moved into my new home in Lower Lonsdale, I walked across the street to the Lonsdale Quay Market and saw this cool stall with a killer looking espresso machine; the San Remo Opera. I knew this guy was serious when he brings in a $30K machine to serve coffees one customer at a time. ... https://lanaturafoods.wordpress.com//c41-coffee-lower-lon/

The name Savio Volpe, which means "sly fox" in Italiano, is pretty cool; as is everything about this place. Except the wine we had. Now, to be honest, we usually order wines by the glass so that we can try a few different vinos, but seriously, of the three different wines we tried, all of them were a bust. And to be clear, the vinos by the glass are not very expensive; very reasonably priced, so we didn't complain.... https://lanaturafoods.wordpress.com//osteria-savio-volpe-/

I learned many years ago from a Chinese friend that if I wanted vegetarian food in a Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant, I should ask for "jai" or "chay." When speaking to my Asian friends over the years, I've heard different answers about what jai means. Everything from "Buddha's food" to "vegan." I guess technically, there is no lacto-vegetarian in most Asian cooking, so jai would really mean vegan.... https://lanaturafoods.wordpress.com///23/do-chay-yaletown/

So, I know that a lot of people get excited about Vij's. I had the chance to eat there about 10 years ago with some colleagues and friends, and it was nice. Really nice. Great service, which was amped up (think free tapas while you waited for your table at the bar) because everyone had to wait to get in for a meal at their old South Granville location (Rangoli).... https://lanaturafoods.wordpress.com/20//22/vijs-cambie-st/
