The sport of Curling and Sports need your help! With just 30 seconds of your time you can ensure curling centres have support from government to continue growing curling in Canada. Athletes, youth, parents and our communities all benefit from sport, which is why we, along with Curling Canada, have joined the Sport Helps campaign. The pandemic has caused many events to be cancelled, taking revenue away from leagues, development programs, and national teams. To help offset thes...e losses and ensure continuity of our programs, we have partnered with other sports organizations to ask the federal government for added support. We want to see teams, leagues and events come back strong, and are pushing for investments in the upcoming federal budget. We hope you will lend your voice to help the national curling community make sure politicians understand what is at stake. WRITE A LETTER To get active, we ask that you go to www.sporthelps.ca and click the ‘take action’ button. You can then send a letter with just a few clicks to your local MP, the Minister of Finance and the Minister responsible for sport in Canada. By entering your name and address the tool will personalize and send the letter on your behalf. SOCIAL MEDIA We also ask that you share the message below on social media to help drive traffic to this site: Sport helps Canada. National sport organizations can help us recover from COVID-19. Sport makes people healthier, builds communities and creates jobs. Sport must be part of our recovery. Lend your voice at www.sporthelps.ca! #SportHelps

It is with a heavy heart that, in light of the new lockdown measures, the Board of the Lancaster District Curling Club has voted to not go on with the upcoming season. We understand that many were looking forward to this year's play and a return to the curling community -the Board shares the disappointment in not being able to go forward. The board would also like to thank the volunteers who had been working for several months to prepare for the season; your efforts are much... appreciated. The Board will offer three options regarding membership fees, A deferment of your payment to the following season, Full refund or partial refund Donate this year's fee or a portion to the club to aid with our ongoing costs. There is a form on the club website where you can tell us which option you wish to follow. Please let us know your intentions by January 4, 2021 here http://www.lancastercurling.ca/membership-fees/ Please stay safe and enjoy the Holidays. James Doonan LDCC President

Macpassed away on Tuesday, December 1st, 2020. He was a good friend tomany of us and always willing to lend an ear and give advice. In the past fewyears, he took such pride in organizing the Valentine and St. Patrick’s Daybonspiels which were always a fun celebration. Our thoughts are with Carol, their children, and grandchildren at this time.https://memorials.munromorris.com/mac-edw/4445411/index.php

Hello, I hope this message finds everyone safe and in good spirits. The Board communicated to members earlier this year that for the club to cover the costs of ice installation and startup we would have needed, at a minimum, 80 full-time memberships committed and paid by October 15th, 2020. Thank you to all who have responded to our call but unfortunately there were insufficient memberships by the deadline and after reviewing the income/expense data, and considering the ris...ing COVID cases the season will not begin as planned. The Board is still committed to a curling season including Learn to Curl this year and has decided to delay the start of the season to January 2020. We will be extending our membership deadline until December 1st, 2020. Should you wish to register please visit http://www.lancastercurling.ca/member-registration/ or contact Colleen MacCulloch [email protected] By shortening the curling season, we will be better able to control losses. As well during this period we will review and update the control measures for COVID previously communicated. Our Refund Policy At this time members and Learn to Curlers who have paid can request a full refund if they are not going to join. For those remaining to play the half season they may request a refund for the paid-up, unplayed portion of the season or put the balance towards the following season. If play begins in January, we will pro-rate refunds if the season is shortened due to government order or other unforeseen circumstances. The club is committed to having play this season so long as authorities allow. We are aware that is it a major social aspect of many people’s lives in the winter months and we hope to provide a welcoming and above all safe experience for everyone. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. James Doonan, President Lancaster District Curling Club

Hello everyone. We are saddened by Colman's passing. His funeral will be live streamed today. Please see message from the family. Please note we won't be answering messages on this page as all the instructions are below from the family. Rest in peace dear Coleman. Hello everyone, these are difficult times particularly when we have lost a loved one. Please remember that St. Mary's will be limited to 30% capacity to avoid over-crowding and I believe there will be some arrange...d seating. If you are unable to attend, Fr-Louis Groetelaars has been kind enough to offer to live-stream uncle Coleman's funeral. Of course, many of us are struggling with technology so please have patience in case there's issues with buffering, loading, and the like. Father Louis will be posting on his personal Facebook page. The post will be public so there is no need to 'add' him as a friend in order to view the ceremony. More details will be made available as we receive them from the immediate family. Thank you. https://memorials.munromorris.com/coleman-macd//index.php See more
