Are you a caregiver, bereaved, or feeling stressed or socially isolated through the pandemic? Consider joining our Virtual Book Club! The goal of this book club is to facilitate social connection and engagement through reading. Anyone is welcome to join. Our Book Club consists of membership to a private Facebook group and weekly virtual meetings on Friday at 10:00 AM to discuss the book we are reading. Meetings take place in Facebook Rooms, an easy to use video call program. ... We are currently reading A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. This book tells the story of a Russian aristocrat living under house arrest in a luxury hotel for more than thirty years. It has 4.5/5 stars on Goodreads. Next, we will be reading The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline. This book takes place in a dark future where humanity has nearly destroyed its world through global warming. Now an even greater evil lurks. The Indigenous people of North America are being hunted and harvested for their bone marrow, which carries the key to recovering something the rest of the population has lost: the ability to dream. This book was the 2018 CBC Canada Reads Selection. If you are interested, message us or contact Victoria at 613-354-3301 ext. 205 or [email protected]

This past week has felt very different for all of us at Hospice. Today we should be hosting the 16th Annual Hospice Golf Tournament. We are missing all our wonderful golfers/supporters/volunteers. Fingers crossed we can all catch up in September!
Below is an article about supporting kids during COVID-19. https://theconversation.com/childrens-grief-in-coronavirus-
We recently received this message after a front porch delivery of some caregiver resources: "I just had to call and say thank you so much. I just opened everything in the bag and oh my gosh, I am absolutely speechless. I have goosebumps. I just have no words. This package was so thoughtful. I am just very grateful for everything that you put in this bag and I just wanted to say thank you. And when this is all over, I want to be one of those people that, like you, give somebody hope in the middle of this kind of journey so I just wanted to say thank you and I hope you are blessed beyond your wildest dreams. Although some of our services might be slightly modified during these challenging times, we are adapting to ensure that our community feels supported.
Do you have an old iPod or iPhone that you no longer use? Please consider donating them to us. We plan to load them with customized playlists and provide them to patients and clients :) Devices with chargers, and those that are compatible with apple music are preferred. Thank you.
