Tamper-resistant Receptacles and it's Importance: TR Receptacles have a shutter mechanism that is specifically designed to prevent children from inserting foreign objects in the receptacles, which can lead to harm. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, each year, approximately 2,400 children suffer severe shock and burns when they stick items into the slots of receptacles. It is estimated that there are six to twelve child fatalities a year related to this beh...avior. These receptacles can protect adults as well. For example, if a plug's blades are damaged or bent, the shutter will not allow it to be inserted; inserting faulty plug blades could result in a shock or damage to the appliance. The Canadian Electrical Code requires tamper-resistant receptacles in all residential renovations and new constructions. You can easily replace your old outlet for as low as $3 per outlet if your home doesn't have TR receptacles. The outlet faceplates of TR-rated outlets are engraved with the letter "TR". #safetyfirst #smartdesign #SmartDecisions #electricalcontractor #winnipegcontractor #residential #residentialdesign #commercialdesign #commercialconstruction #winnipegsmallbiz #winnipegsmallbusiness #manitoba #manitobabusiness
