We are battling for our YQR air traffic control tower. Losing our service in Regina would be economically and socially devastating for our community and for the others who are under review. A huge thank you to the mayors of Whitehorse, Prince George, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (Fort McMurray), Windsor, and Sault Ste. Marie for joining us in the fight for our air traffic control towers. #YQR

Public service announcement- On average, Regina Fire & Protective Services (RFPS) responds to approximately 150 carbon monoxide (CO) calls, annually. Of those 150 incidents, approximately 50 are caused by faulty CO detectors, and the remainder of the calls indicate a presence of CO within the structure. Fire fighters verify the presence of CO by using specialized testing equipment. When CO is confirmed, SaskEnergy is notified to respond and assist with the incident, as well.... CO is a colourless, odourless, tasteless and toxic gas that can cause flu-like symptoms such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, burning eyes, confusion, drowsiness and even loss of consciousness. In severe cases, CO poisoning causes brain damage and death. Carbon monoxide is a by-product of incomplete fuel combustion such as natural gas, propane, heating oil, kerosene, coal, charcoal, gasoline or wood. Some of the following items are potential sources for CO entering a building unnoticed: Automobiles left running in attached garages Gas furnaces, water heaters, fireplaces, dryers or grills operated inside the building Improper, dirty or plugged chimneys and vents Keep a close eye on the hazards and have multiple Carbon Monoxide detectors that plug in AND have battery back up through out your home. Test on a regular basis just as you would your smoke detectors!

What an honour it was tonight to watch our first female Mayor and all my fellow Councillors be sworn in tonight. I’m glad I got to share this moment with my mom and my wife. It doesn’t quite feel real. I can’t wait to get to work for Ward 10 and work with these other amazing people for our great City.
