Awesome event happening in Vancouver on Tuesday March 12th! Equitas is proud to give you the opportunity to meet Rita Izsák-Ndiaye, a human rights expert from Hungary, currently based in Senegal, who has worked with civil society and multilateral organizations in various countries, including in Somalia and Bosnia & Herzegovina, as well as with the Government of Hungary, in the fields of discrimination, racism, minority rights, social inclusion and on other related issues. She is currently the Rapporteur of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Inspired by her own experiences of prejudice and discrimination, she has been working on human and minority rights since completing her Masters in Law from the Péter Pázmány Catholic University in Budapest. Dr. Virginia Caputo will be speaking at the Anthropology of Childhood and Youth Interest Group (ACYIG) Bi-ennial Conference, also hosted by The Rutgers University-Camden Dept. of Childhood Studies. Samedi dernier, avec d'autres décideuses et décideurs, j'ai écouté une 20aine de jeunes Montréalais.e.s affirmer leurs droits comme enfants et partager leurs re...vendications pour une meilleure école. Les jeunes ont réclamé : - une école décloisonnée où la ville devient la plateforme d'apprentissage et d'appartenance - un horaire et un rythme qui correspondent à leur développement et leur capacité de concentration - un personnel scolaire bien outillé à lire et comprendre les émotions et à accompagner les jeunes dans cette complexité humaine - un milieu de vie exempt de violence et de harcelement - une alimentation et un curriculum diversifiés, faisant place à plusieurs histoires et réalités - une possibilité de vraiment mener au sein de l'école Je salue le travail exceptionnel de l'honorable Landon Pearson, qui travaille pour un monde où les enfants et les jeunes sont entendus, écoutés et pris en compte, à chaque étape, dans toutes nos décisions. L'activité de samedi--Brasser les décideurs--était une parmi 8 au Canada organisées par The Landon Pearson Resource Centre et des partenaires locaux (Concordia University et Equitas Human Rights à Montréal).
