Instead of working with students in a school to help them. understand the importance of Remembrance Day.... I will spend my first Remembrance Day as a Retired Principal laying a wreath at the Palmerston Cenotaph as a North Perth Councillor. It is an honour to pay tribute to all of those who have served our country in any capacity and to remember those who have lost their lives to protect our freedoms. For the freedoms we have today, I am truly grateful for those who have served and continue to serve to protect our country. Lest we forget.

So proud to help organize the Women United Event for The United Way with this amazing team! We hosted about 55 women at the golf course to celebrate different cultures and how and they dress. We learned about the societal impacts that have happened to them as women based on how they look and how they dress. Proceeds from this event went to The United Way. I continue to look forward to the great things that this United Way North Perth Community Committee will do in the future.

Hats off to all of our front line agricultural workers, associations, and local farmers. We appreciate everything you do to provide a healthy and secure food supply. For this we are truly thankful. Here in North Perth we are so blessed to live in the heartland of agriculture in Ontario.

Text of My Speech July 5, 2021 Presenting Notice of Motion to Adopt a Territorial Land Acknowledgment. Mayor Kasenberg.Deputy Mayor Kellum and fellow councillors. Today I am paying tribute to Mert Schneider who recently passed away. Mert was a valued resident of Wallace Township who deeply cared about this community. His public service to this community was through local politics in Wallace Township, North Perth and in Perth County amounting to over 39 years of service. He leaves a great legacy behind in terms of his accomplishments in local politics, volunteerism on boards, his dedication to agriculture on his own farm and through the beautiful family he leaves behind. I am grateful for his contributions to our community. He will always be a legend in our area! Mert Schneider 1946-2021

Last night I joined our community at the #TogetherWeWalk event in North Perth to take a stand to support the Muslim community and to support diversity overall. I feel strongly about creating communities where everyone is welcome and where diversity is embraced. The killing of a Muslim family in London, Ontario shows that acts of racial violence are getting closer to home. To maintain a peaceful community, more needs to be done to educate AND to create and maintain a welcoming and safe environment for all. We live in a great community... but we should not be complacent, and we should not ignore that one act of racism causes tragic lifelong and life altering impacts. North Perth is a community where everyone HERE belongs. Racism and Hatred does not belong in our community. #antiracism #education #prevention

Thank you to the organizers of the Together We Walk Event in North Perth on June 11. I was proud to join our community to stand up for diversity and to show support to our Muslim community after the tragic killing of a Muslim family in London, Ontario which is only just over an hour away from our community. It is great to see signs like this in our community to show that everyone belongs and should be treated fairly and equitably. There is a lot of work that needs to be done to educate, improve and take down racism and hatred. Sadly tragic acts of hate will have a lifelong impact on families and on communities. We need to begin more work to ensure that tragic acts of violence towards others doesn't happen in our community in North Perth.

Have your say... North Perth! The latest topic is about the usage of Off-Road Vehicles on Municipal Roadways. Off-road vehicles (ORVs), such as All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) are becoming an increasingly popular recreational activity in Ontario and in the Municipality of North Perth. With recent changes to provincial legislation to permit the usage of these vehicles on roadways, we have decided to consider adopting a Municipal By-Law related to ORV us on roadways. Over the ne...xt few months Council and Municipal staff will take a closer look at current rules with ORV usage, focusing on a approved road and restricted areas. The goal is to do some research and to seek public consultation that would expand and enhance ORV use across the municipality. Again through Provincial Legislation ORV usage on highways is permitted. Here at North Perth, we would like to regulate this usage with some bylaws. You are invited to share your opinion on this topic by visitng the YOUR SAY NORTH PERTH website and competing the Off-Road Vehicle Survey. https://yoursaynorthperth.ca/orv-survey

#cnoy2021 Walking in Wallace Township to support the Coldest Night of the Year. So proud to be a part of the United Way’s efforts to raise funds for a warming centre in North Perth!

Lee Anne Andriessen, North Perth Councillor 22.04.2021

I am on a team to raise funds for The Coldest Night of the Year. I will be walking 5 km on Feb. 20, 2021 to support those who need shelter in our community. I am trying to raise $250 along with my other Council teammates to support those in our community who need a warm place to check in during the cold winter months. Our community has seen a rise in homelessness, and with my colleagues I am trying to support ways to make their lives better and to support our community. An...y donation is greatly appreciated. A response to my question about extending connectivity to rural Agricultural businesses and what municipalities need to do. There is some grant funding but it won’t be enough municipalities must also invest in this as well. Check out what they are saying...

Asking Questions at the ROMA conference about connectivity for agricultural businesses in rural areas?

Lee Anne Andriessen, North Perth Councillor 10.02.2021

Participating in my first ever online municipal conference with the Rural Ontario Municipal Association. We have already heard from Doug Ford Premier of Ontario who has announced new opportunities to apply for infrastructure grants. Looking forward to learning more about rural broadband connectivity in these next 2 days. Good news is I don’t have to drive to the sessions in Toronto and... I can participate safely without a mask!

I just want to extend my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those in Caressant Care and within our community that have suffered great loss to Covid-19. This virus is not leaving our community untouched and sadly it has hit our most vulnerable population most in their senior years. My heart goes out to all of our front line workers, our caregivers, for their dedication to serving the needs of those in our seniors homes and in our hospital. We are all growing... tired of these conditions, but I know for sure that our front line health workers have increased demands and are experiencing exhaustion. I wish all front line workers continued hope and wish those suffering loss due to Covid-19 continued strength. Our collective efforts to work together to stay home, work from home, wear masks, conduct ourselves safely will save lives. Let's continue to be diligent and care for each other by following the current restrictions...lives, front-line workers and businesses in our community depend on it. See more
