Lands End Park 26.05.2021

We have recently been forced to dig through photos as we work on a makeover for our website (which will hopefully be live in the next couple of weeks!). Anyone else dreaming of summer as much as we are right now? How many more sleeps until opening weekend Robin & Dave?

In a year as challenging as 2020, it's easy to forget how much we have to be thankful for. We are thankful for s'mores cooked over embers We are thankful for our fabulous staff members... We are thankful for the wonderful campers we meet We are thankful for delicious food we have to eat We are thankful that we are no longer in full quarantine We are thankful that our business will survive Covid-19 We are thankful for the beautiful weather this fall We are thankful for our campers - one and all We are thankful for tents, trailers, and motorhomes We are thankful our livelihood doesn't rely on our ability to write good poems!

Covid-19 Update: Ontario has extended the Declaration of Emergency to June 30th. We are receiving many emails and phone calls about what this means regarding when we will be open for overnight transient camping, and to be completely honest we have no idea. We are not receiving any more information than the public. While we still have some hope that private campgrounds will receive an exemption and be permitted to open soon to overnight transient campers (as golf courses, ma...rinas, and backcountry camping at provincial parks have), we do not know if/when the government will make that decision or what restrictions there will be. Because of all the uncertainty, we are pausing accepting new reservations for 2020 at this time. We are not cancelling existing reservations (unless individually requested) as there is still a chance we could open at any time. We will continue to email campers as their reservations approach and will update our website and facebook page as soon as we learn more.

Today's announcement from Doug Ford was a bit unclear, but we have since learned that: "Private parks and campgrounds may open to enable preparation for the season and to allow access for trailers and recreational vehicles whose owners have a FULL SEASON CONTRACT." (https://news.ontario.ca//ontario-announces-additional-work) ... This means that sadly we cannot welcome overnight transient campers quite yet, but it is a wonderful step towards seeing you all again very soon.

While we have a strong feeling that private campgrounds will not be permitted to open for transient overnight camping this upcoming long weekend, it looks like tomorrow we may have some final answers regarding an opening date: https://www.myhaliburtonnow.com//expect-to-hear-details-t/

Grotto Reservation Update Reservation for Grotto Parking will launch on June 29th at 8:00 am, EDT. Reservations are required, so avoid disappointment and pl...an ahead as Parks Canada has reduced capacity to 50% this season. A visit this season will not be the same as in the past. To ensure the safety of visitors and our staff, the cave will be enjoyed from the top of the cliff this season, as physical distancing is not possible in the cave, or on the climb down. Learn more about recent changes that may impact your visit to the Grotto: www.pc.gc.ca/grotto See more

We had the pleasure of watching a few turtles lay eggs by our pond this spring - keep your eyes open for our protective turtle egg boxes when you visit, or perhaps even some baby turtles hatching!

For those who have reservations already booked with us, of all site types, we can now confirm that we will be able to welcome you to the campground this summer! There will of course be some changes/restrictions due to Covid-19 outlined below and details will be emailed to you in advance. If you need to cancel your reservation due to any of these changes, please let our office know immediately. We will have limited toilets available due to disinfecting protocols, so new rese...rvations are still being limited to self-contained units, as well as cabins. Cabins will be left vacant for 24 hours between users and all high touch surfaces disinfected. Government directives still advise limiting non-essential long-distance travel, so we will still be limiting our acceptance of new reservations to those in the neighbouring few counties for the time being. We will however honour all existing reservations assuming border restrictions do not dictate otherwise. Thank you everyone for your continued support during this unprecedented time! Current Covid-19 changes/restrictions: minimum 6’ distance from other households/social circles at all times gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited maximum 6 people per campfire at a time Starting June 26th, we will have the following amenities OPEN with 6’ physical distancing rules: Toilets (limited), Hiking Trail, Sports Fields, Beach Volleyball Court, Boat Docks, Boat Launch, Pond, Bicycle Rentals, Camp Store (limited hours), Boat Rentals (weather dependent, limited amount per day due to disinfecting protocols). The following facilities remain CLOSED at this time, and we are not confident they will re-open this season: Playground (closed), Beach (walk through only for water access to swim/boat), Showers (closed).

The government bodies have not yet released official regulations for private campgrounds, so we have been directed to open in a way that we feel safest for our staff, community, and campers. ***FOR JUNE 12TH - 26TH WE PLAN TO OPERATE AS FOLLOWS*** We do not feel we can safely re-open shared washrooms at this time. Therefore, we will be accepting reservations from self contained units only (ie. your camping unit must have its own washroom). We will also be reserving up to 4 ca...bins at a time as we have 4 locked washrooms in the campground, and reservations will rotate between our 8 cabins so that we maintain 48 hours unoccupied between different families. We will not be accepting reservations for more than 2 adults per site unless proven that you live in the same residence (as we cannot have two households sharing one site under the current provincial physical distancing regulations). The government is discouraging travel to reduce the spread of covid-19, so for the time being to cooperate with provincial recommendations, we will be limiting new reservations to campers who reside in neighbouring counties. We will accept new reservations from those who reside in the following counties: Bruce, Grey, Dufferin, Simcoe, Huron, Perth, Waterloo, Wellington. Please know that we value all of our wonderful campers regardless of where they live and look forward to when the situation improves so that we are able to expand this list. If you already have an existing reservation but are not from a local county, we encourage you to reschedule for a later date (full deposit transferable), or try to book at a campground closer to your home county (refund of camping fee provided). If you are unable to reserve for a later date or at another campground, we will honour your existing reservation. These are unprecedented times; everything is changing day to day and we are figuring things out as we go. Please check our facebook page and/or website regularly for updates as we will be making frequent changes as we learn more.

Thank you all so much for your enthusiasm (over 120 emails and phone calls since yesterday’s announcement wow!), but at this time we are still on pause. We are still waiting for details about what this means for private campgrounds as well as specific information from our local authorities. Once we have this information we will be faced with some tough decisions about what we can safely handle at our park. Safety of our staff, campers, and community is still our top priority. We will update our facebook page and website when we know more.
