We're excited to announce our Winterways initiative! Winterways is an urban adaptation project that is transforming 3 laneways Leader Lane in the St. Lawrence Market area, McDougall Lane in Downtown Queen West, and Cosmos Nature Lane in Bloordale into welcoming places for outdoor public life in the cold months. Launching in May 2021, our new Winterways project will help three Toronto laneways work better for communities during the long, cold months. Read more at thelanewayproject.ca/blog/warming-up-to-winterways Together with local communities, we'll identify the most important winter challenges being faced in Leader Lane at Church and Wellington, McDougall Lane by Graffiti Alley at Queen and Spadina, and Cosmos Nature Lane at Bloor and Dufferin. The plan is to then design and... implement permanent improvements incorporating bright colours, lights, windbreaks, and de-icing that create people-friendly places to walk, play, enjoy culture, and connect in winter 2021-22 and beyond. Wherever you are in Toronto, we encourage you to tag #winterways and @lanewayproject on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook with your suggestions about what would make your local outdoor public spaces more appealing during the cold months. Incorporating feedback and ideas from site visits, community consultations, and public meetings, we present the Leslieville Park-ing Master Plan! Next steps include permits and construction on some interesting and colourful interventions, including a road mural for the kids, LED lighting, and new laneway gardens.
