New publication in Vancouver is seeking new voices in music and the arts. Please check out this note: My name is Glenn Alderson and I'm the editor-in-chief at RANGE Magazine, a new music and arts publication launching in Vancouver this spring to amplify new voices in music and the arts.... I'm reaching out because we are working with Creative BC on a very cool initiative that seeks to involve more Indigenous voices in our publication and I’m hoping you might be able to connect me with someone from your journalism department or whoever handles internships for the journalism students in hopes that Langara can facilitate connecting us with suitable candidates who we could then consider inviting to participate in this creative process. Our goal is to foster a team of Indigenous writers and photographers who will assist in curating Indigenous content and telling the stories of emerging artists in the Vancouver music community. Thanks for your time. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best, Glenn Alderson Editor-in-Chief readrange.com | @read.range 105-2130 Cambridge St. Vancouver, BC Vancouver | Calgary | Toronto

Love journalism and have a desire to tell stories that have gone unnoticed and unreported. The Michelle Lang Fellowship is now accepting applications until April 23, 2021. Please consider applying. Michelle was remarkable and our recent grad Kristen Holliday did this story about her https://www.langaravoice.ca/kerrisdale-school-holds-ceremo/ You can apply here for the fellowship https://ca.indeed.com/viewjob

Hi alumni and grads, I have a potential applicant who is hoping to talk to someone about getting in journalism if they come into it from various other occupations. He's worked in Fort MacMurray, he's done land surveying. He wants to "hone in on problems" and want to let people know what's happening in the world. Is journalism a good fit for that, he wonders. He's at vgoleco@ hotmail.com

Instructor Jon Woodward finds out what happens when you teach your students a little too well. They track down your demo reel, screenshot something from it, and use it as their background during the next zoom lecture.

The last radio class of the term is a rush of checking times and making sure all the clips are ready. The hosts do some trial runs and then it's hit record.
