Today I visited the Alberta Health Services testing site in Brooks where just yesterday, approximately 970 people were tested for COVID-19. Two of our interpret...ers (in the picture below) Amy and Sirak, were among others interpreting for people with limited English language abilities. As of yesterday, Languages in Motion Ltd. has pledged $10,000 of translation and interpreting services to assist rural Albertans. We hope that by this gesture, we will be able to continue to provide jobs for our local interpreters and at the same time deliver quality translation and interpreting services to show importance on staying safe and healthy. Today was day 2 of 3 at this drive-in testing center and tomorrow our interpreters will go home. We will continue to provide support jointly with Brooks & County Immigration Services - BCIS and Calgary Catholic Immigration Society as they reach out to people in the community. Our 24/7 Phone Interpreter app is available to their teams and gives them access to 200+ languages.
