If I added up all of the time in my life that I've been looking at this...

OK, so THAT was the weirdest computer service call I've done in a while! Logged in to a client machine in Japan... I don't know why I never expected it to be all in Japanese logographic script! Thankfully, I was mirroring the local English version, of what I needed to do, on my other monitor for reference. The client thought my Japanese was pretty good

Ok... Mind blown... Today I saw a 10TB hard drive at Canada Computers for a very reasonable $379 and thought how far we've come in so little time. THEN I wondered... How many 3" Floppy Disks would it take to back up that drive? A 1.44MB Floppy is EXACTLY 1/8" thick. Therefore, a stack of 8 disks, at 1" high total 11.52MB, or 138.24MB per foot. ... The pile of Floppy Disks required to back up a single 10TB Hard Drive, as pictured, would be 75,852 feet tall! Almost 3 times the height of Mount Everest!!! See more

Some people wonder why I charge for travel time to my service calls... Notice the speed in the bottom left corner.

On this day, September 9th, in 1947, the first computer "bug" was found. This bug, however, was literally a bug! The team at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, found that their computer, the Mark II, was delivering consistent errors. When they opened the computer’s hardware, they found... a MOTH. The trapped insect had disrupted the electronics of the computer. Since then, all computer program malfunctions have been metaphorically referred to as BUGS

After weeks of remote service, Zoom and Webex service calls, I was REALLY excited to do my first on-site Server-Down call today! ...I really should have looked in the mirror first

As a techo who sets up Remote Access work logins for corporate customers, I'm #9 on the Essential Services List... But I've got a lot of free time on my hands! I'm what you may call "an underutilized resource".

Remote access has never been so important! With so many of us needing to work from home, there's an even bigger reason to call a professional to get it set up securely! COVID-19 isn't the only threat out there! This is what I do for a living, folks!
