Let's have some fun with numbers A study was recently published saying that worldwide, about 2.41 billion - yes, BILLION - people need some kind of rehab. Musculoskeletal problems contributed most to this number (1.7 billion), with low back pain being the most prevalent issue most countries (Cieza et. al, 2020). Back... For those age 15-64, most of the issues are Musculoskeletal So in a nutshell, don't live in pain, get assessed. It may be pricey to start (especially if you don't have benefits), but if you have a great practitioner, they'll educate you. They'll inform you. They'll help establish a plan for you. They'll give you some tools to improve your life.... But only if your proactive and choose too! #rehab #AthleticTherapy #AthleticTrainer #muscles #treatyourself #painfree #massage #exercise #lowbackpain #educationispower #assessment #healthyliving #softtissuetherapy #conditioning #strength See more

Awesome little write up by @lesliedwight on the current state of affairs of the world... Fact of the matter is, things have to change. I'll admit, I personally have never been experienced what black people experience likely on a daily basis, but I know and have worked with so many great people of all races to know one thing - there is only one race. And that is the human race. And when I see things like what happened last week, it makes m...e frustrated. Angry. Sad. Devestated. As both a person and a small business, I stand by everything you fight for, and support you. I've been posting on education recently, and this is one thing everyone should educate themselves in - myself included. Racism and injustice deserve no place in this world - and like many, I've decided that staying silent is not the right way to fix things. This isn't for likes, for publicity, or for ego, but to show that #blacklivesmatter and I'm with you. Stand up for change.

EDUCATION! Like a lot of people, this pandemic has provided me with time "off" work - so you figured I might as well do something with it! If you been following my stories, you probably know I've been doing some learning! To keep it short and sweet, it's about YOU and helping you reach your goals! From TRX to Rockpods and Rockfloss, I've added some tools to the toolbox to help my patients strengthen and im...prove their mobility! I personally am loving the Rockfloss - if you don't know about it, you should! It's going to be great to help with common lower body injuries I commonly see in my basketball athletes like ankle sprains and tight calves (I've been my own guinea pig for that!). ATs are still considered non-essential workers (), but if you have any questions about anything rehab feel free to send them my way! Keep staying safe and stay moving! #AthleticTherapy #ATlife #Rocktape #Rockfloss #Rockpods #trx #continuingeducation #pandemicsilverlining #education #rehab #movement #muscles #strengthen #stretching #AthleticTraining #mobility #sports #sprains #tightmuscles See more

Educational moment: here's a great infrographic by @dr.caleb.burgess on healing times of the various injuries types! ... What we can see from the is there can be a large variability on healing times - these are averages! Sometimes injuries take longer to heal, sometimes they take less time. Age, severity of injury, adherence to rehab protocols, stress, nutrition and even your outlook on the process can all affect how you heal! ... In this (mandatory in most cases) time off, be sure to take care of any little issues that you may have, as it will definitely go a long way once things get back to normal. While most clinics right now are closed, I can still offer guidance or help via messaging, emails and telehealth if necessary! Feel free to drop me a DM! #healing #injuries #timeoff #improveyourself #AthleticTherapy #AthleticTraining #painfree #painrelief #educateyourself #knowyourbody See more

Unfortunately, with the pandemic going on, hands on therapy treatments have taken a bit of a hit, with clinics and non-essential businesses closing and all. This does not mean you can't self-treat yourself at home! Enter one of my favourite therapy tools, the lacrosse ball - if you've seen me, it's often something I recommend you purchase to use for some short term relief of MUSCULAR pain and discomfort (though this also may help if you ...have some numbness and tingling as well!). If you don't have one, any other ball can work - softer is more gentle (), smaller is more targeted () - experiment with them! Swipe over to the pic to see some common spots to hit on the upper body and glutes (you can also hit points on your front and back of the thigh, calf and bottom of the foot) . You want to find a tender point on a muscle - definitely not something bony. Feel free to experiment and either roll around that spot, or give it a bit of pressure and take some nice deep breathes - after a little while (I'd hold it up to 30 seconds at most), the discomfort/pain your feeling should drop! You should NOT create tingling, intense pain (above 8/10 pain) or any sharp pains - its should be a tolerable uncomfortable! *As a disclaimer, this isn't specific medical advice - if your having some weird pains, you should definitely get it checked out by a doc or therapist before you go poking and prodding. But if you have a sore neck or flank side low back pain from a long day at work, try it out! #AtHomeAT #AthleticTherapy #AhleticTraining #selfcare #staysafe #painrelief #self-isolate #therapytools #cheapbuteffective #lacrosse #ball #sportstherapy #homecare #diy #socialdistancing See more

With all the media coronavirus panic and fear mongering, let's look at some ways to actually limit your chances of exposure! 1) Wash your hands thoroughly with soap! 2) Avoid close contact with people (and avoid large crowds) and stay home if you are sick... 3) Get more potassium in your diet! Researchers seem to be finding a correlation between low potassium and those with the virus! Remember, the goal right now is to limit the spread - even if you feel like you're healthy enough to fight it off, you never know how the person you may pass it onto will handle it! Also.... With most sporting organizations postponing events, sports medical coverage will be temporarily postponed for the next few weeks. In-home consults and treatments WILL still be available, but again, if you feel sick, please reschedule!
